I think there are some issues that should addressed in this thread. I don't understand why people make fun of others for being virgins. To me, if we're supposed to live in a time where we're tolerant of others, then making fun of people for being virgins is rather silly to me. But I feel the reason why sex seems is glorified these days is because it seems the pendulum has swung into this direction.

I also think there's a double standard out there. That's why it's more socially unacceptable for guys to be virgins, because they're supposed to be sexually active. But not for girls, if a girl is she would be viewed as being a [wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth].

But since we're having this discussing about virginity and how it seems socially unacceptable, what do you all think of the operations such as hymenoplasty? It seems that this kind of surgery is becoming quite popular. Because of this, I'm kind of having a hard time believing that virginity is no longer valued.

Almost to the point of being a fetish. You can purchase fake hymens now.

The whole hymen thing isn't a big deal to me. It doesn't necessarily mark whether or not a sin has been committed. Of course it could be because mine was broken by other means than sexual intercourse.

It is a part of our physical makeup and doesn't have any bearing on the condition of a person's heart, whether it is there or not.

I've not been made fun of for being a virgin, and it didn't seem to bother any of my boyfriends (even the experienced ones) or anything like that. We are all non-religious and it never seemed to be a big issue. At most, its a curiosity to people, like if you meet someone with their hair dyed blue. You just don't see it every day, but you'd only have a problem with it if you're a shallow or judgemental type of person.
