Why do Muslims circumcise both boys and girls?

I'm not sure why Europeans don't circumcise like the Muslims and to a lesser extent, Americans do? Maybe Americans and Muslims have been more,"religious" yet also unknowing the real reason behind why it was started. It was started to remind Abraham of how God cut the,"covenant/Heifer, she-goat and ram between God the Son/us"and,"God the Father". When the time to repent had passed as told by the angel Gabriel to Daniel, in Daniel nine, Israel and all the nations on earth had to receive the punishment in the cutting off from God for breaking the covenant. In the making of the covenant, Abraham never walked through the cut animals, only God the Father represented as fire, followed by God the Son who also carried the spirit that was represented by the smoke coming off of him. Because God the Son, "walked/co-signed as a man" in Abrahams stead, Abraham and likewise us who also believe by faith doesn't have to be cut of from God. God started circumcising Himself by the olive trees near a press that forces oil out of the olives. The weight of our sin was placed on Jesus as He took the fifth cup of the seder meal. His blood started to push through His pores of His skin in large drops of blood, a condition called,"Hematidrosis". The cup containing Gods wrath was meant for all the nations on earth including Israel, but Jesus drank it in our place. Then ending when Gods own Flesh gave up His life and gave His,"Spirit /breath" back to God the Father. The price for the broken covenant was paid by God "cutting/cercumcising" Himself in half without human hands! Now after the death of Gods flesh, there is no longer any reason to remember what God will do as prophesied in the display of cutting the animals in half. God the Father "cut/circumcised" God the Son off at the cross. God paid the price of the broken covenant because we had no ability to pay it ourselves. That is why the rite of cercumcisen was started and why it ended. If it was for health reasons, God would have had Adam performed it on himself. The good news is the same in the Old Testament as in the New Testament!

Well why do Christians circumcise women? The practice predates Christianity and was retained when Christianity and Islam were introduced to parts of Africa. Muslims do it only slightly more than Christians.

FGM is a tribal/cultural practice not a religious requirement. Like many such traditions, it is difficult to stamp out even when it is made illegal as it is in almost all countries.

To even equate the mutilation of women with circumcision is an insult. Circumcision is simply the cutting around of the excess unneeded skin on the male, whereas female genital mutilation is the butchering of an essential part of the female anatomy.

Even most Muslims understand that females can't be circumcised.

And reading where it was commanded in Genesis, it is quite explicit that its only for men. "Every man child among you", "he that is eight days old", "he that is born in thy house" over and over. Even if women did have unneeded, excess skin which the ignorant might mistake for foreskin, its obvious from the bible that the sign of circumcision was only performed on males.

I came here to say just this. However, I wanted to add one thing. We are doing basically the same thing in our Western societies, not physically but through indoctrination. Mainstream conservative Christian sexual ethics and education is mutilating our children's most sensitive sexual organ - their mind. We teach extreme sexual asceticism. These programs typically use scare tactics and impose false moral guilt - all of which have lasting psychological affects on teenagers.

I came here to say just this. However, I wanted to add one thing. We are doing basically the same thing in our Western societies, not physically but through indoctrination. Mainstream conservative Christian sexual ethics and education is mutilating our children's most sensitive sexual organ - their mind. We teach extreme sexual asceticism. I apologize for not commenting on my own post for quite a while, I was just away. All this talk about sexual desire being reduced with women because of circumcision also should be noted, is reduced with men also, because that is a place of extreme high nerve endings on all of God's creation, with out all theses pleasure nerve receptors life would go extinct. God wanted us to fill the earth. The main point of circumcision at the point on the body that has the most nerve receptacles wasn't to reduce sexual pleasure but to reveal the pain that God had to go through when his own flesh and blood, Jesus was circumcised without human hands. Could any of you imagine circumcising yourselves (Men or woman) without anesthesia as God commanded Abraham to circumcise himself? Cutting this highly sensitive spot on the body because of it so extreme number of nerve endings provided an excellent way to show Abraham the great pain Father God would go through in the future by circumcising his own flesh and blood, beginning in the grove of olive trees and ending when his blood stopped flowing after soldier(World governments) sword pierced God's Flesh. Circumcision has nothing to do with sexual pleasure it has everything to do with the physical pain of the act of being circumcised! God suffered great pain in being separated from our Messiah at the cross and dying for our healing. Jesus's paid at the Olive press brought healing through His blood being pressed out for us! That's why we use Extra virgin olive oil for symbolically represent the blood of Christ and praying for the healing of people. The extra virgin olive oil was the first flow that represented Jesus bleeding for us for the first time. This teaching needs to be given to the Jewish and the Muslim culture that continues to practice circumcision, circumcision is no longer needed because of God's own circumcision at the cross!

Why do Jews and Muslims still perform circumcision?

Answer: Because the Christians don't share the true meaning of circumcision because of their delicate sensitivities. They would rather see the lost remain lost then embarrass themselves. I am a Christian but I'm not afraid to embarrass myself for the salvation of others.
