Why do liberals give China a pass on the virus?

It's because people do blame Trump for the virus.

No, people blame trump for his response to it. EVERYONE, repeat, EVERYONE knows it came from China. This is NOT a secret. But trump was informed about it's potential spread in late December, and then it was more important to go golfing and to campaign rallies for almost three months.

Donald has not received one, certainly not by the media or by folks like you. His supporters, like myself, have gone easy on him ; because they think he has done a somewhat decent job relative to other politicians.

As a conservative and Trump supporter it looks to me that liberals in general and on the board seem to largely give China a pass when it comes to the virus. I see much more preoccupation with complaints on how Trump has handled it etc.

Well Sen Tom Cotton was pushing Trump on things 10 days before he issued the travel ban in late January. I think he was closely following it from the start in January or late December.

He may have known earlier but he didn't tell the Congress about it or there wouldn't be this investigation now.

Well for starters 1) Why didn't they restrict outgoing travel rather than just travel within China.
Why did they allow air flights and other travel from China while they were locking down their internal travel?

2) Was their saying "the virus cannot be transmitted casually?" so they can buy up the worlds masks, ventilators etc. That alone needs to be explored, because lots of circumstantial evidence points to that being a big fat lie, or that they should have known better.

Did we want them to do that at the time? There were a lot of Americans that fled China for instance.

When we closed our borders to China, at first we closed our borders to Chinese people and let Americans come right in.

When did they say that exactly? Because it had in fact spread quite a bit in China before we started seeing cases in the US.

I think they would have had to explain to us privately to Trump or at least our ambassador that a bad virus was starting etc. and if we had wanted our citizens and green card residents back home then they would have been allowed to fly back but be under some form of quarantine at a military base or maybe allowed to self quarantine at home.
