If you have, you should make more of an issue of it. For a public high school biology teacher to say such a thing to his students is a serious breach of professionalism and a clear violation of the First Amendment. The ACLU might even take it on....but I have personally witnessed teachers say that it disproves a God...
As I said, the resources I have as a layman, I make a conclusion. And you conclude this based on your relevant post-secondary education and experience in science, surely.
By education, but that doesn't mean he knows nothing of evolution, or isn't qualified to speak on it.Berlinski is a philosopher by education. I was unaware he wrote a book about evolution - what is the title?
I do know that Berlinski has sad that creationism is "an empty doctrine."
Aye, I would, and perhaps it would be the right thing to do.If you have, you should make more of an issue of it. So creationists, why do you think biological evolution is taught in schools?
Good. I must say that my experience of the public schools is not favorable, neither as a student, a father of students nor as a teacher (I subbed my way through graduate school). If I didn't know any more about the theory of evolution than is generally taught in high schools I might not have any use for it myself.Aye, I would, and perhaps it would be the right thing to do.
But admittedly, I'm not the kind to start trouble.
Though I know one of em that did it in my district got fired for yelling at the children quite harshly.
Public schools, private schools, college. They all do it really. Can't attest to the college one, as I haven't personally witnessed it, or seen video (though I haven't sought it out). But I've heard tale.Good. I must say that my experience of the public schools is not favorable, neither as a student, a father of students nor as a teacher (I subbed my way through graduate school). Evolution, has no bearing for, or against the Christian beliefs. And it's high time people stop acting like it does.

That book is about his beef with atheism. it may mention evolution, but if his writing on the subject in that book is anything like his claims about whale evolution, then I see little reason the waste the effort on his inane self-indulgence.And I *think* the book is called the devils delusion.
I feel the same way about Christian theology. As I said, the resources I have as a layman, I make a conclusion.
I don't go half cocked, I study as hard as I can before speaking on a subject, and on the subject of evolution, it hasn't sold me on it.
Kinda like how Christians are being demonized now for simply not agreeing? What else is new. You have an extremely well evidenced scientific theory, that happens to contradict the theological beliefs, of a minority of Christians. When those specific beliefs are important to these folks personal psyche, guess what, those beliefs will be protected at all costs.
Evolution plain and simple, threatens certain theological beliefs and it must be demonized and defended against, to ward off the cognitive dissonance.

Hypocrisy.
