  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why do Christians have trouble with accepting Evolution?

Evolution teaches that as well. ToE asserts that we evolved from primordial soup, then into various forms of prehistoric ape with less intelligence than a chimp, then to the "brilliant" scientific mind he is today.
I don't see the word "dirt" there anywhere. Given that dirt is mostly silica, and silicon is absent from Earth biology, I can only suggest (again) you actually familiarise yourself with what science actually says, before making such grand, nonsensical pronouncements.

I have heard them making arguments that make DNA look like it explains evolution. bah everyone is so caught up in the small stuff.

They cant even read 80 or 90% of Human DNA. What makes us think they can track the origins of man? DNA actually shows how ignorant science is. It shows their lack of understanding, not their mastery of it.

I don't believe purposeful data can write itself by corrupting the data at hand.
Silly me huh?

You can believe what you like. Scientific evidence shows you are wrong, and will do so whether you believe in it or not.

I did not think humans could detect gravity particles from a different galaxy but apparently they did. I have my doubts that humans could achieve such things but can also accept it. it's not like it has any affect on who i am in God and who God is to me.

Waves. We detected gravity waves from another galaxy. The gravity "particle" as much as that's the term, is the Higgs Bosun, and we think we've detected them from right here on Earth, but it's still early days.

I don't believe ToE has actually be shown credible. Some things in science have proven credible but not ToE. It has way to many holes in it to just blindly accept it. Their lack of understanding in DNA is just one thing against ToE. Their ridiculous fossils are yet another.

Most scientists who believe ToE are not even Christian. God catches the wise in their own craftiness, and has made mans wisdom foolishness. If people want to believe ToE that's ok with me, but i cannot because i believe its a gateway into mans wisdom, i.e. mans foolishness.

No it doesn't.

I think that people who have a literal understanding of the bible are the same kinds of people that are like a lot of atheist are. most of the modern world subconsciously believes in science. in some people, I have not really seen much a difference between the biblical literalist and the staunch atheist. thus in the spirit I warn against those who have a shallow understanding about the bible seeing as God takes the wise in their own craftiness.

I understand that some Christians rightly spiritually discern that there are dangers of over-symbolizing the bible away into a book of 'pragmatic' truths that are useful for humans existing in this world, but that kind of belief is a thing that only atheist would think.

I like to look at the PERSON who is making such claims as I know that humans generally believe something to be true and then fight with all their might to protect what they believe to be the truth. it might be impossible to get completely rid of human biasedness.

It's still a fact that there has to be evidence to support claims, otherwise it's useless to even bother forming a view.

Believing man was made out of dirt is somehow better?
An atheist will only laugh if you have the wrong answers. They are known for that. Like its not untrue, but its not the way they want it to mean as literalists do it. Or well... this is why Augustine is the best. Here is what he says about it.

"It is too disgraceful and ruinous, though, and greatly to be avoided, that he [the non-Christian] should hear a Christian speaking so idiotically on these matters, and as if in accord with Christian writings,, that he might say that he could scarcely keep from laughing when he saw how totally in error they are."

More or less which is why the allegory explanation is the perfect explanation in my view. Protestants has to be ridiculed because they have no choice, since their literalism came to be during the reformation. So thats sad more or less.

well some types of people that refuse to accept God as near by have to depend on secondary things such as dogmas and the bible.

It takes integrity.
Emotions are not valid in assessing truth.

But for me it was easier, because i didn't know what to believe anymore (so i was a genuine freethinker at that time), when i set out to seek truth.

Some people want to convince themselves God is nearby, when none of them have touched or seen Him, or had a conversation with Him....
