But the truth is If we hate the gospel then we do hate God, for he is The author if this offensive system.
Still no. It is completely possible to hate a message without hating the person that wrote it. Whether that be God or man, it doesn't matter. Isn't it part of Christian doctrine to hate the sin and not the sinner?

You're looking at it through mans eyes, you need to see through Gods eyes. The bible says that the things of God are foolish to those that don't believe.

The bible is clear on those things; God made one man and one woman to be together in marriage (not two men or two women). There is also a divine order in the marriage it's God 1st, then the husband, then the wife, and then the children. It's there for a reason because eve sinned first. Trust me our flesh don't want to give our husbands the right to be our lord but our spirit knows it's Gods will.

Unfortunately there are only two places to go; heaven or hell. Heaven is free to them that believe of course it wasn't free for Jesus He paid the cost just so that we didn't have to be bound by the law which is death but we can be alive forevermore.

Sex isn't wrong it's a God given right for us to enjoy it but only in a loving committed relationship between a husband and his wife.

Gender identity disorder is a made up term for those who choose to live in sin and rebel against God. I used to be bisexual I was more so attracted to women which almost made me a full blown lesbian. I felt like I wanted to dress like, act like, and basically be a man. I used every excuse I could muster up to live that way. There is a way that seems right but in the end it's death. In the end I made a choice and I chose God. I stopped being gay I stopped living a fantasy and now I'm happily married to a man. Yes temptations come but the key is knowing who one is in Christ - dead to sin, sin cannot reign in me it has no place.

Aww but you do believe and in fact you do hate him, how do I know? Simple;
King James Bible
Romans 1:20
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

You hate Him because again the ways of God are foolish to those who don't believe. You don't like being told right and wrong and neither do I, who does? But I love the saviour enough to live this way. He doesn't warn us of things to steal our joy. The devil comes to steal , kill, and destroy but Jesus comes so that we may have life and live it abundantly. God warns us about things because He loves us even the unsaved, He warned us of homosexuality because it leads to death and it's not the way He intended. He warned us women to be submitted to our husbands because again eve sinned first, now husbands should love their wives like Christ loves the church (he should never abuse his wife period). The list goes on...

I mean all this not to hurt you or anyone else... but we must look to ourselves and see if we have a rebellious spirit. A rebellious spirit leads to these things, and a spirit of rebellion in the bible is likened unto witchcraft.

But Tesla... the bible isn't true. The devil represents evil things that when acted out make me really upset, but the devil isn't real so I don't hate the devil. I just hate how people treat me.

If I repeatedly hit you with my Hammer in the name of Thor, your anger would not make Thor real or make you crazy enough to hate Thor himself, it would just mean I'm a jerk.

God is real. To me.

I honestly appreciate this sentiment, I really do. But the reason people hate religion (not god) is because it hurts us. It teaches us to hate ourselves, to deny ourselves and hurt other people by oppressing or preventing them or teaching them to hate their self.

One more thing for now.

DeanW,
it's not all that strange,
I'd be okay saying that some Athiest hate the concept of God or believers, if that's what you're needing to hear, people always try to prove God isn't real though.

If they hate the concept of God and those who believe, it's very similar. More or less they can hate what they don't believe by hating the ideas behind it, and people associated with it. However, It's my belief that what atheist or skeptics are doing is focusing primarily on some of the bad aspects of faith-based communities. Abraham Lincoln once said "If you look for the bad in people, you will surely find it". and I think this is what we see with many Atheist.

I´m sure the subtle irony in this paragraph is intended. :)

Tinker Grey: Belief in God doesn't make him real. Believing the Bible is his word doesn't make it true.

For me it does.

Just as a disbelief in something doesn't make it false. It's completely disrespectful to tell a believer they can't make the sun purple by believing it. That member came into the room saying they think we should all just love each other, but absolutely no consideration for what they believe. It's the argument of many Atheist that Religion or God is damaging, but what about the other way around?

I mentioned earlier that I was Agnostic, I was actually leaning towards Atheism for a good while but I learned that the character defects they complained about in Christians and other believers, were very much true for them.

I think love is a good message cannotbechanged, there couldn't be a better one. If that's what God has done for you hold onto that tight.

I take it you're aware that for the past 1700 odd years, certain theists in the western world have demonised non-belief by murdering apostates, and all manner of other horrible punishments. And that their religion has been forced upon us for all that time. We had no choice in the matter, if we wished to stay alive and/or have any sort of quality of life.

And you're complaining of internet meanness? Seriously?

What you should be doing is thanking us for leaving it at the intellectual challenge level, and not doing as believers have always done to us.

was a great quote I saw from a atheist, "I hope we treat you better then you've treated us when were the majority."

It looks like you're preaching. Isn't that forbidden for women in the bible?

Hush. Back to the kitchen.

Remind me what the bible admits as grounds for divorce?
This probably isn't the right thread to discuss this, but just to answer your specific question it says the grounds for divorce are sexual sin.

I was recently on Youtube leaving a reply to a video which suggested teaching creationism is bad for children. I'm not religious, but I do believe in God. I had said that nothing should be forced on a child, including evolution. I've always found freedom of thought to be important but I was respectful when I left the comment.

I soon got some ugly comments for the message I had left, I also notice this with others as well, a very harsh attitude for those who believe. I see this in the media with celebrities such as Bill Maher too, it seems pretty common.

Atheist say that they can't hate what they don't believe, but I know many of them do. Many people don't believe in God anymore these days so they seem to have the upper hand already, it makes it hard to understand. I've always had a problem understanding those who are not okay with others having beliefs that are different. Any ideas, or thoughts?

Edited:

I wanted to add a thought to the opening post, the idea behind hating something you don't believe in is something I believe can make sense if someone hates the ideas behind something, and the people associated with it. That's what this is about, hatred directed at believers and what they believe. It seems to be directed at peaceful and productive believers much of the time.

As far as more extreme examples of hate goes, beyond Youtube, first off I think Youtube is very revealing in the sense that it's not moderated, and by being separated from those who they're insulting it makes it possible to say anything without consequences. Some of the behaviours surrounding social media is something I plan to write about extensively actually, but if you need more extreme examples of what's hateful beyond that, you're welcome to ask or read some of the replies I've done here. Not all Atheist do this but I feel there is a movement to damage faith-based communities.

Personally, I find it difficult to hate something I don't believe exists.
