One of the funniest things I ever saw in church was during a sermon on Noah.

Up on the screen where we usually saw the words of hymns or prayers printed out

suddenly appeared a cartoon - you saw a beach with two dinosaurs on it - both looking like they had just been startled awake...

Off in the ocean from the dinosaur's beach was the ark floating away with all the other animals on it.

The caption of the cartoon had one dinosaur saying to the other:

"Oh Crap! That was TODAY!!!?????"

This seems similar to the Unicorn song where the unicorns miss the ark because they were off playing.

Because this story is not fully historical? There are two versions of how many animals were let onto the ark....At the time dinosaurs were unknown as far as I know. A fully literal rendering of the whole of the scriptures is not reasonable.

The story of the flood was composed during the exilic period drawing upon other ANE flood stories, so I think we should be saying that the serious answer is that Noah did not exist.

I know that at that time, dinosaurs no longer existed. For the reason you suggest, I may reasonably speculate that Noah didn't exist, but I don't know it.
