  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why did the world abandon Rwanda?

Out of sight, out of mind.

Great, preventable tragedies happen every day on every continent. We could prevent a lot, but we choose not to.

It's sad, but that's the reality of it.

And yes, as the poster above stated, there's no 'gain' from it. Altruism often is ironically self-serving.

It's such a shame, isn't it?

If this is true, then the UN has no integrity. I wonder how it's still existing if most of the world know it's all about selfish interest?

the whole world is likewise.

even truck drivers and chruch goers locally , on their own, and with their leaders,
say that lying and greed are "necessary" to survive.

the world 'loves' its own. the UN has never had integrity as far as i have been able to find out. like martin luther said, every company, every corporation, every 'effort of man', is without heart or soul, greedy and the only motive is love of money.(and power).

king david said the same thing. (every business/endeavor/science/etc in the market place has a false scale).

there's very very few exceptions.

Sadly I have to agree with u. The human mind is evil in it's natural state. I guess it's foolish to expect altruism from the average person, corporation, and organization(UN, AU, EU and the likes). When Christ said to love God and each other was the first and second greatest commandment, it must have sounded so easy to those he was talking to. But in reality, it seems like the hardest thing for many to do.

Php 3:17-20 KJV Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. (18) (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: (19) Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) (20) For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

The UN has no godly integrity I'm not sure why we would expect it to.

"Blessed are the peace makers for they shall be called the children of God" Matt 5:9 The UN peace keeping forces were in Rwanda when the war began. Surely expecting some level of integrity from the UN isn't out of place especially since it prides itself as a peace keeping organization.

(virtually no one is teaching the truth today. (very rare). so it is not just "like the hardest thing for many", but they don't even think about doing what is right, and , if they start to (think about doing what is right), the enemy quickly distracts them with their own religion and family and group.

"easy" ? >> see what his own disciples did >>
John 6:60-71King James Version (KJV)

60 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?
61 When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?
62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.
65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
