Let string G1 = "I am God".

Why did Jesus not say G1 in the Gospel?

Jesus knew he was God but decided not to proclaim it at the time. Why?

Paul explained in Philippians 2:
5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,
He gave us his example of servant humility.
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Jesus did imply that he was God in the Gospels.

Jesus did imply that he was God in the Gospels.
First of all, you have absolutely no way of knowing whether or not Jesus uttered the exact phrase, "I am God" (not in English of course, but in Greek, Hebrew, or Aramaic) because the fact that it is not recorded in the Bible does not mean He didn't say it.

30 And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. (Jn 20:30–31)

25 And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen. (Jn 21:25)

So, there is no way you can rightly claim that He knew it "but decided not to proclaim it at the time".

Furthermore, Jesus didn't need to use the exact words, "I am God", to get the point across. The people understood Him plainly, for instance, when He said, "Before Abraham was, I AM" (John 8:58). The context, the grammar, and the unbelievers' reactions should leave no doubt in anyone's mind what He was saying.

Let proposition P1 = Jesus never said: "I am God".

Did I assert P1?
Let P2 = "Jesus knew he was God but decided not to proclaim it at the time." and Q1 = "Why?".

P2 & Q1 = P1

Are you denying that P1 must be true if P2 & Q1 are true?
I am not denying or asserting. You made a claim. I am asking you a question: Are you familiar with FOL? Is your claim based on FOL?

You said, "Jesus knew he was God but decided not to proclaim it at the time. Why?" Most people will interpret this as being something you believe to be true unless you give some indication that it is only a theoretical position for the sake of argument. There is no indication that it is only a theoretical position. On the contrary, the fact that you gave Scriptural evidence to support the false claim is evidence that you thought it was true. Besides, the premise of the OP is flawed. Jesus did tell us plainly He was God, as I indicated above.

What is the difference between "proclaim" and "say"?

Let proposition P1 = Jesus never said: "I am God".

Did I assert P1?

You're right. Jesus never did say "I am God". But I think the closest he came to uttering the words is in John 10:30, in which he stated "I and My Father are one". (NKJV) He claimed to be equal with God. That was enough to make the Jews plan to kill Him.

He most certainly did say in the Gospels that He is God, and in many ways. The problem is that people don't often pay close enough attention to the things He says.

Jesus often used the various names of God in reference to Himself. In certain instances this was seen as justifiable grounds for putting Him to death.

He did. To say that you are "IAm" is to say that you are God.

He also said "I am the Good Shepherd". This is a reference to the Psalm of David that was written about Yahweh.

The Gospels were not recorded in English. What Jesus said in John 8:58, whether in Greek or Aramaic is equivalent to your required string G1

He did. To say that you are "IAm" is to say that you are God.

He also said "I am the Good Shepherd". This is a reference to the Psalm of David that was written about Yahweh.
Let string S1 = "I am God".
S2 = "I am".

S1 = S2?
