How do you get that out of what we are talking about? I think you are making this more difficult than it has to be. When you are honestly ready to talk terms with God, He will listen.

Jesus taught forgiveness. Was there any exceptions?

Back on topic:

The fact that the Bible says God killed many many people really does not make me want to worship this god.

Well, I think that you entered into this discussion with a preconceived notion about God. Regardless of whatever explanations I can give to you, you have already made up your mind. Understand that I have been here for awhile, and you are not the first. I can continue to explain, and you will continue to complain. It all comes down to this:

God warned that there was a penalty for sin. Man chose to disobey and take that penalty. God desired a reconciliation. He gave the law, but no man could keep it. Instead, the law showed the need for a Saviour. God provided One. Jesus paid the entire sin debt for every human ever born. You either accept the gift of salvation or you don't, it is your choice, and God will not force anyone to do anything. The penalty still stands. The price has still been paid. You choose.

John 10:10 says:
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Satan is the "thief".

In the OT things were done in the physical; now, we are living by the Spirit.

OT: Enemies were people (physical)
NT: Enemies are demons (spiritual)

In the OT God destroyed evil by destroying the evil people, however the evil continued. God sent Jesus, so that we my have a God who knows what it's like to be human (among the other reasons He came to earth as a man). Since man's heart was holding to rules and regulations Jesus preached on the heart of a man. Just look at the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus talks about what is in our heart.

Jesus took authority over the real enemy: satan. By the Blood of Jesus Christians have authority over satan and his demons too.

Refer to Eph 6:10-18, which talks about the battle we are engaged in now.

"Why don't you really want to worship God? What happened to you, that prevents you from believing in Him? What pain have you experienced during your life?"

The Spirit led my husband to ask you these questions when I read him your question. He was suprised it came out of his mouth, but he thinks God led him to ask you those questions.

You don't have to respond if you don't want to, just needed to tell you what was being said about you :)

So I should only forgive people if they have not done something really really bad?
You are not God, I am not God. He says to forgive others and to love our enemies. To bless those that curse you and to pray for those that despitefully use you. God's commandments are for us to live in peace, judgement is his and his alone. He will judge sin, and the penalty for sin is death.

such a fun a great question.

Well, the question one should ask, more to the point is, is it Our Life, or is it a life that God has allowed us to have. Now, if you believe in God, then you would know it is a life that God has allowed us to have, each day we live, is by Gods grace, not by something we have earned, or by right of our own. Thus, if God so chooses to end our life at any time, for any reason, it is Gods right to do so, as it is by Gods allowance we even have life.

Secondly, God functions in Both Spirit and Material Existence, as such, when our Physical Bodies die, we are not "dead" to God, we have only changed our state and our association to him. Thus, even if God lets our physical bodies die (by any means) he is still the final judge and ruler of our afterlife.

Now, why would you want to worship such a God, well that I can not tell you, you can hold reasons or what ever in your mind to hate or reject God, and that is your right. But if you came here trying to Justify this rejection, then this is futility.

I hope I have answered your questions for you.

God Bless

Hey Leon, think of it like this:

We are alive and well and God has given us a choice. We can come to Him and apologise for the way we lived, and try our very best to live a new life in His Name.

Essentially:
You get caught speeding, and are asked to pay a £50000.00 speeding fine. You don't have £50000.00, and it will mean a life in jail, your life will be over. The judge however is a very good friend of yours, and loves you like a son. But he is a judge, and he absolutely must be righteous. So he fines you £50000.00 which you are forced to pay. He then steps down from the bench, and comes over to you, and writes you a cheque for £50000.00, and give it to you.

This is what God has done. Man was wicked, beyond reason and God (the judge) could not allow this to continue, so he flooded the world, and saved only the righteous who did His work. But He also promised that He would never do that again. Yet we continued to be wicked. This time, God came down to earth to teach us the right way, to show us how He would have us live our lives. Then He gave us an avenue to Him, through Jesus (think of him like the cheque for £50000.00). If we accept it, we can live in His name and be saved. If we choose not to accept it, that is, if we think we can live life on our own, without Him, then we will be punished for it.

Basically, it's our choice. As to being forgiven after we have been offered a choice, that is like saying a parent will forgive a son after they have done something bad (sinned), and refused to apologise for it (rejected God). They will not, the son will be punished and that will be the end of it.

I hope that helps. :)

I find this strange, places like Numbers 31 say how God told people to go kill others, not to mention the great flood. Why would I want to worship a god that did such things? And why did he do it?
LeonTrotsky, zdravstvooi, tovarishch!

I look at the Old Testament cruel killings in the same way.

Christians, how is it that you don't see it?

Do you really believe all those atrocious murders were godly acts? How can a compassionate human being justify it? Imagine the same thing happened somewhere in the world (say, the US) today. Would you readily justify it as a divine act as well? Think about it.
