InGodweTrust said:Its foolishness to me. God is my plausible theory, and what process he used to create the world isn t important to me, only the spreading of his gospel. For every true christian this world is not their home, its with the creator. Evolution is a stumbling stone to many people.
But is it a 'stumbling stone' becuase the science disproves God? Well, those that make that claim are the real problem there. Evolution niether proves or disproves God. I wouldn't listen to any argument that says otherwise.
OR is it a 'stumbling stone' because Biblical literalists who call themselves Christian 'authorities' say that its heresy (and foolish)? Make no mistake, there are some Christians that are the real 'stumbling stones' to many who might otherwise accept Christ into their hearts. Is that how Christians are called to spread the Gospel? Is it really Christ's heart toward scientists to call their work foolish? The woman at the well comes to mind here...
And the world IS our home, it is the good space that God created for his good creation (Gen 1). We live in the world, but we are called not to BELONG to the world (John 15:19)..a very important distinction. Our hearts belong to Christ and we are called to be a blessing to others and to help further God's kingdom HERE in this world, empowered by the Holy Spirit. With that in mind I would like nothing more than to welcome all people in the science community with open arms into the body of Christ.
I would also add that if looking into the world of science is not important to you and tends to shake up your faith..then the simple solution is to stay away from it and focus on what counts. But why slam the door on other Christians who don't have a problem with it?
