  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why did God create anything to begin with?

For Himself.
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.
Col 1:15-16

In the beginnig God created the heaven and the earth.
Genesis 1:1

Your question is a valid one. In reading the first verse in the Bible I am made to wonder what God might have done before creation. Could He have been lonely?
Did He ever have another world some place out in what? He had not yet created the heaven, so I can't say heaven? What do I call it . . .

Because he is creative, - as is reflected in us.

we were created in His image, we have an imagination, and feelings, we can be bored or interested...........seems very plausible God may have been bored and decided to do somthing very interesting

God created the material universe so that He and his created beings could enjoy the sensations of it. It is a manifestation of his power and love. Of course it all went terribly wrong.

I am not so sure it all went terribly wrong. What is so terribly wrong with a beautiful sunset?

I meant that it went terribly wrong before the temporary restoration of GenOne.

He knew, and planned for it to go 'wrong' in the garden, but he didn't know it would go wrong the first time.

Because He wanted to.

What is it that at rock bottom moves God to help His people? Verse four says, "You are
precious in my eyes ... I love you." Is that the answer? In a sense, yes. When John said,
"God is love," he no doubt meant that no matter how deep we probe into the motives of
God, we will never arrive at a layer which is not love.

If this is true then we are put onto an interesting link between the story of the tower of
Babel in Genesis 11 and the call of Abram in Genesis 12, which will, I think, show us that
God's goal of glorifying Himself did not originate at the creation of Israel but that this is what
He was up to from the beginning.

That's the first thing that needs to be stressed from Isaiah 48:9-11: our salvation is for
God's sake. He created us for His glory!
Piper's Notes

So, what does glory mean? I looked up several different versions of 1 Corinthians 10:31 and found The Contemporary English Version Bible say honor in lieu of glory.
