A large number of people believe or can envision a supreme being. What is it about Christ that sets him apart from other faiths for you? Did you come to this conclusion based on scripture alone?

Buddha is dead. Mohammed is dead. Confucious is dead. Elvis Presley is dead.

Jesus Christ is alive!

Google 'the evidence for the resurrection'. Seek, and find! :)

Hi JSU - first off, welcome to CF! :)

What set Christ apart for me was reading and studying the Scriptures and coming to a point in my life where I realized "my way" (for lack of a better phrase) was not working. I read, I had people study the bible with me, and I prayed. Prayer - more specifically, answered prayer was what led me to a point of conviction about not only my life, but the truths I found in the bible.

I'd studied all manner of religions, growing up in a large college town - none of them answered either my questions or my needs. I found them empty, devoid of life. So yes, scripture and answered prayer led me to believe and more importantly to want to follow Him.

Additionally, I saw in Him the values I sought, values I desired.

Scripture helps me understand Jesus, and hence YHWH, but it's not what got me to that point in the first place. I got to that point via relationship, the church, and mostly God dragging me there kicking and screaming.

Interesting question.

I have studied other faiths but more out of curiosity rather than a search for answers. Having grown up in the Christian faith I can only say that I am comfortable with Christianity and what I understand to be it's basic tenents of loving our nightbors, caring for widows and orphans, and being engaged on a life long journey of discovery about God and the Bible.

Frankly, I am still struggling with a clear understanding about the exact nature of Jesus. I believe that Jesus was God incarnate but there is no way I can prove that belief.

While scripture is important, my faith is based on personal experiences that I don't believe can be chalked up to random chance working in my favor. On the other hand, the operative word in the previous sentence is "believe". Again, I can't prove these events and my interpretation of them is evidence of God. But, I find it more comforting than any other alternative.

Sincerely,

OldChurchGuy

If it weren't for Christ, I would be an atheist, but for me what sets Him apart is:

- When I was young, He spoke clearly to my soul and promised to always be with me no matter what.
- His Sermon on the Mount is the perfect way to live. If you follow these words, you'll truly find happiness.
- Unlike other "god-men", Christ promised to return, restore the planet and remove evil from it. So He gives me hope for the future of our world.
