This thread is probably a bad idea, but I just have to get this off my chest. This section of TCL is designated for the more conservative Lutheran denominations. It is meant as a 'safe haven' from arguments of the more liberal denominations.

I am fully aware that we have differences amongst ourselves. LCMS does not agree with everything in WELS' (OR ELS) doctrinal statements and vice versa. Respectful debate is useful and educational to all. But why must some people resort to derogatory language and general 'cutting down' of another denomination?

We are all sinners and none of us has a perfect understanding of God's Word- but I know we all sincerely try to understand and are passionate about our faith. But can't we all respect each others beliefs? Everyone has the right to disagree, but can't we do this without name calling? I have seen language used that can only be construed as delibarately upsetting to describe a denomination's doctrinal stance and I think that is way out of line.

We don't need a separated WELS and LCMS subforum in this area. We can get passionate about our debates without resorting to name-calling, and we can allow specific denominations to answer questions, when they have been specifically asked, can't we?

I don't know that this will accomplish anything and if I have just stirred up the pot, I apologize. If this thread is out of line, mods, feel free to do with it what you need to- lock, delete, or whatever. I just had to rant.

I agree with you about the name calling and denigration of other synods to be way out of line. I also don't think this thread needs to be shut down, I think we need a thread where all this pent up anger, I don't know where it's come from, on both sides can finally be released and our differences analyzed and hopefully we can come to an understanding of each other that will lead to more peaceful posts in the future.

I'm thinking though that splitting the forums, will probably be inevitable and I don't know that putting LCMS/WELS/ELS and LCC I think is the other one into the same sub-forum was the best idea in the world. The WELS and ELS are not in fellowship with the other two synods. But I think I understand why it was done. If this sub-forum does get split at sometime in the future, then you're gonig to have two really small Lutheran forums which will probably be dead forums because everybody agrees with everybody else. The way it's set up now, makes it interesting because the LCMS and WELS and ELS don't agree on everything and there can be debate, which let's face it, is really what keeps members coming back to a forum or a thread. Fellowship threads are boring and don't really produce anything, like deeper understanding of the scriptures or of each other. It's jut a lot of back-patting and high-fiving of each other.

I think your thread was a nice idea....I hope some good comes out of it.

This part of the forum used to be quite friendly. As of late, it is not that way anymore. Last night, I got myself all worked up for half the night, upset because a couple of people (that I don't even know)don't like me or my synod. It was not worth it to suffer the way I am today, because of my fatigue and pain from my fibromyalgia. I'm more mad at myself than anyone else.

I have made such wonderful friends here, but I'm asking myself today if this whole forum thing is worth it anymore. I can keep track of all of them by email, facebook and phone....why would or should I put up with this anymore. What I've decided, is to just keep to the fellowship threads like the Alehaus and the kitchen. Hopefully, kindness and Christian love still reigns in those threads.

Just a quick point- Satan would love to see us all hate each other.

I actually don't hate anyone here. I'm not a huge fan of DaRev's, but I don't hate the guy. But I think Satan is pleased with what's happening here lately.

And I didn't mean to accuse anyone of hating- I am just saying- that is what Satan wants.

I know you didn't accuse anyone of hating anyone else, and I agree with you, that's what Satan wants.

My comments in Wildboars thread were out of line. For that, I apologize to him and all who were offended.

But, I do have issue with the WELS folks who repeatedly misrepresent the LCMS, and yet get all bent out of shape when their doctrinal issues are brought up. They seem to be allowed to dump on us, but we aren't allowed to say anything even faintly in opposition to them without fireworks. What's up with that?

Please show me a thread where I have once put down the LCMS. I was baptized LCMS and went to parochial school in a tiny, country LCMS school until 6th grade. It's where I learned of Jesus, as my parents were a screwed up pair, so I'm very grateful for the teachers God provided to my school.
Of whom are you speaking when you say the WELS puts down the LCMS all the time? It looks to me that it's the other way around.

Are you sure we're all worthy? ^_^

Thank you, apology accepted and you are most forgiven.

I can understand you getting upset when your doctrine is misrepresented. But again there's a difference between disagreeing with a doctrine and misrepresenting it. Generally, during my lurking here the last couple of months, I haven't seen this happen too much. Mainly because the WELS presence on TCL is down to maybe three or four people, but also because we are the ones who respect that if someone is asking about LCMS doctrine it should be an LCMS person answering that question.

I've seen a lot of posts that disagreed with the WELS position on things that were worded just fine, because one doesn't need to misrepresent or mock the teachings in order to disagree with them.

Can a former LCMS answer an LCMS question?

:sorry: I missed Mass this morning, so I'm in need of some absolution.

If anyone still wants a hug, I warn you; I am coming down with the cold my husband and daughter have both had. Of course, it could also be H1N1, but if so, it's a mild strain. ;)

This is why God invented antibacterial waterless soap and facemasks.
