  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

You do pray to the saints when you need something......that is if you "pray the Mass as it is".
That is presumptuous. I'm talking about my personal prayer life. You are talking about public worship. Those are not the same thing. I'm totally in line with Catholic theology in just praying to God.

I can't imagine trying to get through mass without invoking the prayers of the Saints.

The Sanctus would be particularly awkward.
More awkward would be the 1st option in the Penitential rite when we pray , "......I ask Blessed Mary ever-Virgin , all the Angels and Saints.....to pray for me to the Lord our God " .

The Church's doctrine on the intercession of the Our Lady comes across very powerfully in today's Collect at the beginning of the Eucharist.....

"Pardon the faults of your servants , we pray , O Lord , that we , who cannot please you by our own deeds , may be saved through the intercession of the Mother of Your Son and our Lord . Who lives and reigns......"
