  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why are you a Non-Denominational Christian ?

I must say this thread was an entertaining read; had me laughing.

I believe any church (denom/nondenom) is a blessing if you need it. The question why should you go is not relevant, as when one who is thirsty does not ask why, if given water.

It's awesome to go into church defeated and leave victorious, simply from the encouragement, or exercise of faith in worshipping God and Jesus, or maybe a good word. It doesn't have to be all about doctrine for it to be beneficial.

I used to be in a Pentecostal church until it became a hinderance to my development. God wanted me going one way and they wanted me going another which of course they believed was God's way, so I left rather than be in conflict with the Pastor. It's been 10 years since and I'm doing great, and have not joined another church.

I also prefer this non denominational forum for fellowship because people aren't reciting their party line as with other forums, and scripture is upheld above tradition. No one here claims their church is the one with the truth. Also, people point to Jesus and not their church.

And likewise, I prefer to be a soldier of the cross and not some denomination.

"Nondenominational" can be self-righteous . . . if I am looking down on others who are in organized groups.

I don't claim to be nondenominational or evangelical. I just might say I am a child of God, a Jesus person . . . supposed to be "born-again", but I have not lived the Bible and God's love like I know the Bible says to love. So, I need our Father's correction, and I say this.
