You're are biased, that's why your defending the liberal point of view right now. And I'm dismissing this study becaused on other studies it's a bunch of bull.

Any objective person would admit their biased.. as ironic as that sounds.

Liberal point of view?

I think you have your response crossed up with another poster? Or, are you trying to tell me what was the point of view of the one I was posting to?

A little bit confused here... You response to my post seems to be a disconnect.

I actually understand what you are saying. Because Jesus (the definition of "Christian") died for our sins, then we, as Christians, should be just as responsible for society.

But, here's the thing. Jesus died for the sins of his Christian followers. Jesus didn't die for the sins of people who didn't follow him, right?

In the same way, today's church is not responsible for the actions of society. The church is responsible for the actions of the church. And society is responsible for the actions of society.

To say that the gays are harming society and that it's because the God is not present enough is saying that the church is repsonsible for soceity... that the church and the civil government should be combined somehow.

I completely disagree with that premise.

Do what you want in your church... believe what you want. I fully support your right to disciminate against gays when you are in God's house.

But, when you start to discriminate against gays in civil law, by not allowing me to marry (a civil union) my beloved and by not allowing me to serve in the military, and by not allowing me to be at my beloved's hospital bedside (because I'm not family) and on and on and on....

When you start doing that, in the civil arena, THAT is when I will start fighting for my equal rights...

Separation of Church and State, my friend.
I for one do not support that right of any believer or church to discriminate against gays, just as I would not support them discriminating against liars, adulterers, thieves, or anyone else. 'Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.' I think we need to stop getting so caught up in 'homosexuals' and talk more about 'homosexuality.' It is the sin I hate and not the sinner, and anyone who cannot differentiate between the two needs to take a hard look at Christ, because He did it every day, and still does! Homosexuality should be treated no differently than any other sin, in my opinion. Do I believe that you, as a homosexual, are living in sin? Yes. Will I stop loving you because of it? Will I look any differently on you as a person? No.

I actually understand what you are saying. Because Jesus (the definition of "Christian") died for our sins, then we, as Christians, should be just as responsible for society.

Yes, and no. We should be responsible for our own spiritual lives. God will in turn be responsible for the society believers live in. God never commanded Abraham to picket Sodom. He said if "Ten Righteous" were found in Sodom, that he (God) would spare it. The Ten Righteous would have been the needed "salt of the earth" required of God in order to preserve the land.

The LORD could have turned around Sodom, and gotten them to repent of their sins! It was just that ten righteous were not to be found.

Matthew 11:23 niv
"And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to the skies? No, you will go down to the depths. If the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day."
It was because of the weakness of belief, not the strength of sin, that Sodom was destroyed! There was not enough "salt" to save it. The little that was there was removed (Lot and family) before it was destroyed by God. If ten righteous were found? It would be standing today as a city, and not as the Dead Sea.

But, here's the thing. Jesus died for the sins of his Christian followers. Jesus didn't die for the sins of people who didn't follow him, right?

He died for every sodomite who ever rejected the LORD.
He also died for every sodomite who believes in Him.

1 John 2:2 niv
"He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world."
Every sin the unbeliever commits was paid for on the Cross. Jesus bore the shame of our sins, He who had no sin!

The sins of every gay unbeliever will not be mentioned at the Last Judgment! Nobody's sins will be brought up! For they will not be paying the penalty of sin! They will be paying the penalty for REJECTING JESUS CHRIST!

No unbeliever's sins will be judged! Only men's works will be mentioned at the Last Judgment of unbelievers! The "nice things" they did as a means to try and win God's approval. They will all be shown to not merit God's approval. The only merit we now have is our righteousness that is to be found in Christ! Not in ourselves! Men's works, not sins, will be the basis for the condemnation of the unbeliever! The nice and sweet things they did for others will be rejected by God.

"God loves me because I am such a nice and kind person to others." (If that person rejects Christ? Their works will not save them!)

Revelation 20:12 kjv
"And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works."

No unbeliever's works can save them! Its having faith in Christ that saves us!

Ephesians 2:8-9 niv
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast."

No ones sins will be mentioned at the Last Judgment! Gay, or straight! No one's!

For God already judged our sins in Christ! Jesus paid the penalty for sin. He was FORSAKEN by God because of our sin.

He who did not deserve to be forsaken, was forsaken because of our sins. And when he came in contact with our sins, it was when Jesus screamed out!

He was brutally beaten and brutally scourged. Nailed to a cross. But he remained silent!

Isaiah 53:7 niv
"He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth."

It was not until our sins were poured on Him and He was cut off from the Father's love, that he cried out in agony! It was being cut off from the Father that caused his agony and screaming out! Not the beatings and physical abuse. Those, he accepted and took in grace.

In the same way, today's church is not responsible for the actions of society. The church is responsible for the actions of the church. And society is responsible for the actions of society.

The actions of the Church has a direct effect on society! If today's ten righteous can be found in the Churches? God will turn today's Sodomopolis around!

To say that the gays are harming society and that it's because the God is not present enough is saying that the church is repsonsible for soceity... that the church and the civil government should be combined somehow.

Not combined. Not in the sense that the Churcg rules the secular government. But that as the Church rightly handles the Word of God? God will raise up leaders of the land who will rightly handle the Constitution and justice in the land. If God wants to put a check on the degeneracy that was spreading until the Churches repented of their neglect? Then its God's responsibility to cut out the degeneracy's free reign. Abraham was not called by God to picket Sodom. God dealt with Sodom directly. He destroyed it's power to oppress and dominate.

Do what you want in your church... believe what you want. I fully support your right to disciminate against gays when you are in God's house.

Are you not a Christian? What do you do in Church? Change the Word of God for your own convenience and pleasure?

But, when you start to discriminate against gays in civil law, by not allowing me to marry (a civil union) my beloved and by not allowing me to serve in the military, and by not allowing me to be at my beloved's hospital bedside (because I'm not family) and on and on and on....

I do not want you in the shower with me after a hard day in basic training. Nor, do I want you in a fox hole rubbing up against me in battle. Nor, would I want a woman to be doing that, either. Nor, a child.

War is designed for likeminded souls. In Rome it worked because many were bisexual in thinking. It made no difference. Today the Holy Spirit has transformed the world. It is no longer like the days of Rome with its moral degeneracy.

When you start doing that, in the civil arena, THAT is when I will start fighting for my equal rights...

That's the angle the pro gay movement has been using for its leverage. Hard to argue with it on paper. But, that's the only place you can try.

Separation of Church and State, my friend.

But, not the separation of God over all states. The God who RULES THE NATIONS! You can not kick God out of the nations. They could not kick God out of Sodom. They tried. God will not be mocked. Men try. Little men.

1. You have issues with gays. The fact that you're afraid of gays serving beside you in the military shows that you have no idea what gays are about. Really... "Rubbing up against you in battle"? What kind of movies have you been watching????

2. Sodom was not strictly homosexual. It was for adulterers, and all people who were engaged in sexual sin. You implied (not in what you said, but in what you didn't say) that Sodom had to do with homosexuality only. That is wrong.

3. If my works will be judged, rather than my sins, I'm going to have no problem getting into heaven. With the amount that I volunteer to faith-based organizations, and with the amount of time I spend donating my voice to church services (I sing), and with the amount of time I spend sharing God's word, I'm good.

hypothetical:

I have a friend who goes out and gets drunk every Friday night. I go to classes with this person, I study with this person, and invite them to dinner if I am having a dinner party. When my boyfriend broke up with me, they were there to share their own experiences and help me through hard times. I care very deeply about my friend, but I hate how he goes out and gets drunk every Friday. I think it is stupid, dangerous, and a sin. my friend knows my views on drinking, and will not change his habits. We have had to reach an agreement that I don't hang out with them on Friday nights, and we continue to be friends.

Are you saying that because I don't like my friends drinking habits, I cannot love them? I cannot love my non Christian friends because they don't share my beliefs? If you reject us for not approving of every part of your lifestyle, how can we accept you? This world will never be filled with like minded individuals, but that doesn't mean we can't love those who are different from us.

Pecisely what I was trying to say, Sam. The fact that I do not agree with your lifestyle, and consider homosexuality to be a sin (and I am required by my faith to hate all sin), does not mean I cannot love YOU, the person. The two things, the act and the person, are completely separate. I do things myself that I hate sometimes. Even Paul said, 'The things I hate, I do.'

Choosing to get drunk once a week is not nessesarily alcoholism- it is choosing to act on a desire. this hypothetical friend simply sees no reason to stay sober once school is out for the week. The same argument stands for my non Christian friends. true story: One of my good friends in High school was gay, tended to drink, and I'm fairly certain smoked pot. I enjoyed his company because he was diffrent than most of my previous friends and helped open up my eyes that people who are diffrent are not bad. He knew my views on homosexuality, drinking, and drugs. because of this he did not flaunt them or even mention them often when I was around. On the other hand, he was not a Christian and I knew it. I casually invited him to attend church activities from time to time, and sometimes he came, but I never forced it on him, just like he knew better than to ever offer me pot. we moved past out diffrences and enjoyed our time together. I don't for a moment feel I should abandon friendships because I don't aprove of everything they do. I would have very few friends.

That's a cop-out to me.

You choose to love me, but hate part of me???

Well, I don't allow you to love part of me...

Love all of me or none of me.

God hates your flesh. Mine, too. But, he saved our souls.

Romans 7:18 niv
For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not."
God sees your flesh as dead. Crucified with Christ! But, he sees your soul as being made alive in the Holy Spirit!

Romans 8:4-5 niv
"So that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit."
God does not like all of you. He loves your soul. He hates your flesh of depravity.

Galatians 2:20 niv
"I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

Galatians 5:24 niv
Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires."
When you say you are actively homosexual, and God loves you? You are really saying you are walking in your flesh, not the Spirit.

But.....

You are not alone. Its only because of your particular area of sin that makes your rebellion against the Spirit more obvious to the eyes of others who can see what you do.

Many others refuse the Cross of Christ in what ever their area of weakness may be. Be it gambling, or fornication, or getting drunk. Lying....judging others in self righteousness, etc. Many walk as enemies to what God desires of their believer. Not just the homosexual.

These enemies of the Cross refuse to walk in the Spirit, and take pride in their flesh. These, in God's eyes, are the walking dead.

Philippians 3:17-19
"Brethren, join in following my example, and observe those who walk according to the pattern you have in us.

For many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of Christ, whose end is destruction, whose god is their emotions, and whose glory is in their shame, who set their minds on earthly things."
Yet? You can do what you want. God is not stopping you. Marry a gay man, for all I care. Even, retire in Florida when you get old.

But when it comes time for Eternal rewards? You'll realize at that time. It was not worth it. That it was stupid. Selfish, and self glorifying. But now? You glory in self, not Christ. If you did not? You would renounce your sin.

1 Corinthians 3:12-15 (New International Version)
" If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light.

It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work.

If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames."
Many will be saved like a man who runs from a burning house with only his pajamas on. All except his soul, will be lost.

All rewards that God now has in store for you will be denied you. You will lose all reward for Eternity.

Yet, your soul will be saved because you believed Jesus died for your sins.
If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames."

You are refusing the grace and truth that God is always holding out to all of us to overcome our areas of weakness.

You refuse to do God's will? You would rather glory in your emotions and your flesh with your friends?... Go ahead. God will not stop you from making your choice.

But, if you are truly a child of God? You will become miserable , more and more, as you continue to deny yourself the life God wants you to have.

When a believer walks according to the flesh? There is no way for others to know he is saved. He may be. But, without the life of Christ? There is no way one can tell.
Titus 1:16a niv
They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. "
If you have believed? As I am sure you have. Your soul will be saved. Like a terrified man running from a house in raging flames, in nothing more than his pajamas. All else will be lost. Denied you.

God has great rewards in store for you. You don't want them? You do not want to please Christ? Pleasing self is more important than pleasing God? Who would transform you, to have you to discover what being pleased, really means?

For, if you did want to please Christ? You would not be walking after your flesh. You would no longer be walking as a homosexual. No more than a drunk who toasts the LORD before each time he gets drunk. Or, the glutton who says grace before stuffing himself.

Those who walk after the flesh can not please God. Even though he has saved their soul from Hell.

Galatians 5:16 niv
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh."

Your choice.... And, we all must make our choice.

Obviously... when one walks after their sin? They can not be walking in the Spirit.

In Christ, GeneZ

Could you not love a child that just lied to you or even committed murder? Of course you could, they've sinned yet you don't love the sin but the person. It's no different in this case.

You don't even have to go that far. You just have to remember we are all sinners, and we all hate that part of ourselves, we have to fight with it every day. But we still love ourselves, that's why God said love thy neighbor like you love thyself.

War is designed for likeminded souls.
Thanks for that - it's the best laugh I've had all week!

That was a funny comment though. Do girls all rub up against you? With an attitude like yours, I cannot imagine that they do.Seriously, get over yourself.

Do you know what a foxhole is? In wartime?

I think you do not have a clue as to what it is. If you do? You just acted like you did not.

I am long over myself.

If I were not?

I would be defending everyone elses sin, like some here are doing. Trying to excuse myself, by excusing others.

Homosexual desires are caused by demons possessing a person. The reason God allows people who invite homosexuality to become under the deception of demonic forces is that God has left the choice open for them to decieve themselves into thinking homosexuality is not sinful whent he truth is clearly spelled out in the Word. God always leaves us the ability of decieving ourselves, the bible clearly condemns homosexuality. I dont mean sodom and gomorrah i mean simply paul saying homosexual acts were sinful.

Homosexual desires are caused by demons possessing a person.

That is not an accurate statement. Do demons possess everyone they succeed in tempting to sin? Demons possess all kinds of people. Some are homosexuals. Some are heterosexuals. But, not everyone who is weak in doing what's wrong are demon possessed.

The reason God allows people who invite homosexuality to become under the deception of demonic forces

That does not mean demon possession. Demonic forces exert themselves from without. That is why some dabble in witchcraft. The person that is manipulated by a spell cast is not demon possessed. He is under the influence of demonic forces from without.

Ephesians 6:12 nasb
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."
is that God has left the choice open for them to decieve themselves into thinking homosexuality is not sinful when the truth is clearly spelled out in the Word. God always leaves us the ability of decieving ourselves, the bible clearly condemns homosexuality. I dont mean sodom and gomorrah i mean simply paul saying homosexual acts were sinful.

God must allow for anything that is Truth to be denied. For God's Word would becaome not a matter of choice if it were otherwise. God did not stop Adam from doing wrong. Yet, he told him before hand, not to do it.

No one will be with excuse. Like how those Islamic militants who crashed the planes into the World Trade Center did not end up in Paradise with 70 virgins after they hit the walls.

They are now hating themselves for being so idiotic and stupid. For they now can no longer live in the power of denial. There depraved flesh is gone, and they are only left with their souls. They are feeling the additional torment of the realization that they should have known it could not have been right.

But? The human will, when linked up to the sin nature, conspires to get what the sin nature wants? Denial reigns. We either deny self. Or, we deny Christ, if we choose not to.

And? The LORD will deny us of out chosen rewards as a result of denying him. Because we proved ourselves not capable in our souls to handle the power and glory these rewards will bring us in Eternity.

2 Timothy 2:11-13 (New American Standard Bible)
It is a trustworthy statement:
For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him;
If we endure, we will also reign with Him;
If we deny Him, He also will deny us;
If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.

If we are faithless? If we continue to desire to live a life of sin? He still cannot deny himself.
If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.
For if we have believed in Christ? We can not lose our salvation! For we were baptized into union with Christ! He sees us, as himself. As like a bride and husband become one flesh. We are the Bride of Christ.

Yet! If we denied him? He will deny us of our rewards that are awaiting us in glory. We will lose our rewards, not our salvation. We will be losers at the evaluation of the saints.

1 Corinthians 3:12-15 (New International Version)
"If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work.

If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames."
Wood, hay, and straw, are what are called, "prissy works." Self righteous works.

Works which were done in the energy of the flesh, not in the power of grace of the Spirit. All these prissy works will be burned up and destroyed. There will be nothing to show for one's time allotted by God while on earth after we were saved by grace.

Gold, silver, and costly stones, are works done in the power of the Spirit which conformed to the Truth of God's Word. These will not be destroyed by the fire of the LORD. These are not self righteous works.

But it seems to me that hate is part of Christianity, cause oh oh how we hate the sin.......

PS: Alcoholism is a disease and you can with will power overcome the need to drink...but you will be an alcoholic all your life. Alcohol destroys families because the hate is growing so fast in these families that they stop loving each other.

Homosexuality is part of who you are. It cannot be cured, nor should people want it to be cured. Falling in love with someone is not exactly something you plan. And if you hear the homophobic reaction on gay people, why the heck do they want to stay gay...it is not exactly a respected lifestyle. It would be so easier to then be just heterosexual. Gay people are just that...gay. Just respect that and get on with your own little heterosexual lives.
