And thank God God is not like "evil" earthly fathers who know how to give good gifts to their children. Even the love of the best parents are flawed. But His love is perfect and unconditional!

Ok, I agree, but if you are going to start with John, let's finish with it.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

This is a part that a lot of people miss, I think due in part because 'Christian' has lost it's meaning, and due in part to people not understanding that the knowledge of good was just as deadly as the knowledge of evil. John said to some to go away until they show fruits of repentance, and I believe repentance is missing. If one has repented of sin, turned to Jesus, then they are no longer under a schoolmaster. The law is for the unrighteous.

Svt4him,

I'm a little confused. Are you talking about the unsaved sinners or Christians?

You said that the Law is for the unrighteous. You mean sinners? If that is what you are saying, then I disagree somewhat because we do not preach Law to the unsaved to get them saved.

Yes, we do mention the Law and its demand for perfection, so that the sinner can see his need for grace and a Saviour.

But we should be preaching mainly reconciliation to God becos of the cross and because of Jesus. ie we preach God's grace and forgiveness, not so much the Law.

Or you could say, we preach the Law for the reason it was given -- to bring people to Christ, not to modify or to change their behaviour.

Repentance? Repentance is simply changing your mind. For eg, the Jews used to think that Jesus was a blasphemer. If they repent, that means they change their mind about what and who he is, and believe that he is their Messiah.

Repent is not changing one's behaviour. However, when we believe right, we will start to behave and talk right. But the latter is sometimes a journey. Seldom, people get perfected in a certain area of behaviour overnight.

Isn't it interesting how Jesus' message of radical acceptance, as shown by his life, by the folk he chose as his disciples is defined by some Christians as a message of rules, a message of legalism and bondage?

Kiwimac

Dear Kiwimac,
Rebels hate rules.
In a world of mules, there are no rules.
"By this you know you are my disciples, that you obey my commands."

For "christians" who hate rules, rites, rituals, etc;...look at Psalm 19:8-10
Thanks for your post.

Dear Preacher in Training, Yes I know where you are coming from, after all. The word of God already told us that in the last days many would grow cold. The word already told us that many would be on a wide road. and you know this stuff. Know the issue I have for you is "what do you want to do about it?".
Love covers a multitude of sin, Lets Love on everyone on the christian forums and help others in Love grow in their christian walk. The word states that we who are spiritual restore them in the spirit of meekness considering yourself.
My friend, I am new here. But God has just shown you a new mission field. It's the Forums on the net. All forums are a great place for eMinistry, and outreach. Be an encourager.
God has shown me much about these days, and we need to use wisdom before we speak. I am so glad to meet you on this forum, I love hearing fire!
But fire is powerful, it can burn someone. and hurt someone instead of help someone. I am not saying your wrong in what you did. nor do I want you angry at me. no friend. I am glad to hear that I am not alone on defending the word. I hope you get a chance to fellowship with me. I would love to know more about what God is showing you these days. Love one another.
Pray for one another. and remember we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God.

Preacher_in_training...

I was shocked to come to the boards and see so many supporting very unbiblical principals.

Others that have responded:
I think that you take this post very harshly in responding to Preacher_in_training. I don't think he was putting himself above others or saying that christians don't sin.

The point is that Christians have a responsiblity to learn the word of God, follow it and Jesus as well as we can. Understand what sin is, avoid it, and avoid supporting it.

He also didn't use just homosexuality he also used three other examples... sex outside of marriage.. misuse of commandments and twisting of scripture.

I have sinned... but I have read the bible, discussed w/ pastors and priests and I know what sin is. I don't support sin that I have commited and I don't support it when others do. I plan on not sinning in the future, but I'm human and I'm sure I will fail in that quest again at some point.

I look forward to staying on these boards and learning from other Christians steadfast in their beliefs of the bible, and hopefully someone will learn from me along the way too.

In Christ.

No cright, my problem is that it is painted with a thick brush. Not everyone believes that, not everyone accepts that, not everyone likes that. Address the posts, not make such sweeping statements. Who can defend that? Who is he talking about? What was said? Then it does become an attack against the people, as no cite was given.
