Well, if they don't know then saying they don't really know is perfectly reasonable. And if there was and invisible entity buttressing your unbelief then it would be reasonable to sagest such.
And sometimes the nonbeliever appeals to reason for comfort in a vary strange material existence.

Strange how?
And I tell them Satan is gone, he was defeated, that only his meme is in circulation, so they tell me Satan has blinded me as well.
I like this characterization:
"TO THE UNBELIEVING materialist, man is simply an evolutionary accident. His hopes of survival are strung on a figment of mortal imagination; his fears, loves, longings, and beliefs are but the reaction of the incidental juxtaposition of certain lifeless atoms of matter. No display of energy nor expression of trust can carry him beyond the grave. The devotional labors and inspirational genius of the best of men are doomed to be extinguished by death, the long and lonely night of eternal oblivion and soul extinction. Nameless despair is mans only reward for living and toiling under the temporal sun of mortal existence. Each day of life slowly and surely tightens the grasp of a pitiless doom which a hostile and relentless universe of matter has decreed shall be the crowning insult to everything in human desire which is beautiful, noble, lofty, and good.
But such is not mans end and eternal destiny; such a vision is but the cry of despair uttered by some wandering soul who has become lost in spiritual darkness, and who bravely struggles on in the face of the mechanistic sophistries of a material philosophy, blinded by the confusion and distortion of a complex learning. And all this doom of darkness and all this destiny of despair are forever dispelled by one brave stretch of faith on the part of the most humble and unlearned of Gods children on earth.
This saving faith has its birth in the human heart when the moral consciousness of man realizes that human values may be translated in mortal experience from the material to the spiritual, from the human to the divine, from time to eternity." UB 1955
Life is strange. Existence is strange.
People have been struck by lightning before. There was one guy who got killed by lightning in his own garage.
I'm not gonna sit here and try to apply meaning, reasoning, and sense to existence. Because existence doesn't make any sense in human terms. Don't clap for the wrong reasons.

How does this change with religion? All this is is an observation of reality.
*yawn* needs more fairies.
You mean lying to yourself to make reality seem less cruel and more magical. I've NEVER heard of that.
"And all this doom of darkness and all this destiny of despair are forever dispelled by one BOLD LIE "
This does not entertain.
Yes, true.
"The realms of the finite exist by virtue of the eternal purpose of God. Finite creatures, high and low, may propound theories, and have done so, as to the necessity of the finite in the cosmic economy, but in the last analysis it exists because God so willed. The universe cannot be explained, neither can a finite creature offer a rational reason for his own individual existence without appealing to the prior acts and pre-existent volition of ancestral beings, Creators or procreators."UB 1955
Hit a nerve
Colter slowly backs out of room baited with rage......
If a small child wandered out onto the railroad tracks as a train were approaching, would you save the child or would you sit there and do nothing (assume you could save the child without any risk to yourself)?Typhoons are only destructive if you live near the sea. If you want to be safe, move inland. The wise man built his house on the rock, remember? Weather happens. Mass murderers and child molesters are people who commit evil actions. Is evil, by definition, acting according to God's laws or in rejection of God's laws? Did God ever say you would live forever? No. People die. Some people die young. It shows us that we must always be ready. The presence of evil doesn't rule out good. Without good you wouldn't have a definition of evil.
I'm not a gnostic atheist when it comes to Thor. With respect to Thor, I'm an agnostic atheist.yeah, totally uninterested with silly gods. Tell me how you are with respect to the Christian god. I'm a Christian, so please don't waste my time saying that you're a gnostic atheist when it comes to Thor.
If you were a loving parent and your child was wandering around lost, would you not wrap your arms around the child and bring him/her home? Doesn't God have the same right? If a small child wandered out onto the railroad tracks as a train were approaching, would you save the child or would you sit there and do nothing (assume you could save the child without any risk to yourself)?

I don't recall the post where you said that God created the railroad or that God was going to be babysitting today. God assigned responsibility for the child to the parents. Man is responsible for man's imperfect creations, be they trains that kill or planes that crash. Why is it that we want to blame God for every problem and take credit for every success?

My understanding of the Christian God is that he/she/it loves everyone, can do anything and knows everything. Those three attributes are logically incompatible (see the problem of evil) and thus would make me a gnostic atheist with respect to the Christian God or any other god which possesses those three qualities.
A gnostic atheist is an atheist who believes 100% that there is no god. (someone can correct me on this if I'm wrong.)Confused are you saying there isn't a God. And you don't believing I god. I had not heard the term gnostic atheaist before. And if I am correct can you tell me when you started believing this and why....did something happen in your life. Just curious. As prior to finding out about christianity although I believe in God. The amount of bad stuff that happened to me made me question it.
