It disheartens me when I see here so many Christians pandering to the "Palestinian" cause.
It disheartens me to see so many Christians refuse to take a stand for Palestinians.
Our brothers and sisters in the occupied territories are pleading for the Church to hear their cries. They are disenfranchised and at the mercy of a tyrannical occupier, yet many Christians continue to give their blind support to the oppressor while choosing to ignore the cries of the oppressed.
Palestinians both Christian and Muslim suffer alike, they are arrested, terrorized, and abused. Their lands are stolen and homes and farms that have been in families for generations are given to Israeli settlers or confiscated by the Israeli government. In 2014 alone during a prolonged Israeli assault on Gaza close to 1,500 innocent civilians were killed. On a regular basis parents are forced to bury their children who have been killed by the Israeli military.
It seems to me that many Christians put their support for the state of Israel above the teachings of Christ and that's sad.
They are either blinded or short sighted and should read their Bibles to learn who actually laid claim to this land.
It's interesting that almost all Christians born, raised, and living in Israel who also read their Bibles don't believe that God gave the land of Israel to the Jewish people, yet many Christians living far removed from the birthplace of Christ believe otherwise. Outside of some western Evangelical circles, the belief that the Bible mandates Israel’s right to occupy the land today is pretty rare in the Christian world.
There are so much land elsewhere already, why all the fighting for that small arid portion of earth?
If a foreign entity laid claim to a parcel of land in the heartland of the United States or another western country based on religious reasons, removed the people from their land, took their homes and farms, and restricted their freedom and basic rights if they tried to re-enter that land, how would you expect the people to react?
What if the people who lived on that land for generations before this foreign entity's occupation didn't believe what the religion of the occupiers teaches about this piece of land? Are they simply expected to give up their land and to endure and suffer persecution because of the occupiers beliefs?
Not only would the people who were forced off their lands be in an uproar because of this occupation, the entire region would be. If some foreign occupier tried this in a western country, you can guarantee there would be a fight.
So when we see the Palestinians fighting against the Israeli occupation of their lands we should be empathetic towards them, because if it happened to us, we would react in the exact same way.
