Why are some people so unkind? I have been searching for the answer most of my life as I come across this strange phenomenon daily. But I am a big boy and I can take it.

This is related to how society is unfair in its treatment of people while claiming to be fair and equitable.

In societies who make no such claims, being treated poorly gives reason to treat others poorly.

Some rise above it, and are kind when being treated absolutely horrible by others ... but the main reason why horrible behavior exists is people have been around for so long, so it's learned behavior of learned behavior of learned behavior .. etc.

There is a paranormal aspect to it also that relates to the metaphor of sin being a debt or even slavery, which mirrors into our world .. however, people continue regardless .. only a select few appear to be able to rise above and create a mirror object that changes the actions in the visible world.

Define unkind, without doing it from your perspective...
What's unkind to one person... is someone telling them something they didn't want to hear. What's unkind to another, may be name-calling or physical abuse.
Some people who are unkind simply never grew up. Look at children in a playground. Peer pressure is sometimes the cause, there... to be popular to other unkind people who are considered "cool" because nothing ever seems to bother them.

I may be unkind to because I get a big kick out of people's pettiness and desire to attack the innocent. As they go away thinking they win when they have actually lost.

It is a puzzle not easily explained that some people's have less inclination towards kindness. Kindness is not a specifically religious quality, though I think most religions encourage it.

I remember from school that in the parable the Good Samaritan the man who showed kindness to a stranger in trouble was not a co-religionist. I am not sure whether that is relevant...

Do you think that every time a person has been nasty to someone that there was a reasonable reason for their actions? or most of the time nasty people are doing what they do best being nasty.

People are selfish and tribal. That said, I also see a lot of kindness all the time. It depends on how you want to focus.

Part may be generic part may be upbringing part may be social experience and part may be mental illness. so the generic part is a yes answer to your question.

Upbringing or the lack thereof depends upon how good a student the child is. If the school teaches different things from that which the parent teaches... then the child must make a choice: whether to stay out of trouble at school, or believe the parents.

Genetics seems to aid in that choice-making. Because what of the child who never really paid attention in class? and/or was never paid much attention at home?

And how do chldren from the same family turn out to be polar opposites? Is it a birth-order thing? Or is there something that only Astrology can teach us?
