So are you saying that the only people who died in 9/11 were godless or bad Christians,
:shakeshead:
No, no, no.

The stories of avoidance did not only come from Christians.

A friend of mine from work had a story similar to Virginian's. Her son was drinking with friends at night in a park, and fell roughly 300 feet into a gorge. He barely remembered it, but described the last six feet as if something caught him and gently lowered him to the rocks. He only suffered scratches and bruises -- nothing broke.

I don't think the son was a Christian, but there were others praying for him at some level.... general teen-wisdom prayers.

I don't see Christians as the elite force that gets everything they want, or nonbelievers as totally separate from God. He counts the hairs on our heads, He follows the lives of everyone. It's a matter of listening and connecting with Him.

But it is also possible that God would have allowed a believer to be shot along with the rest.
I agree. Christians die all the time.

I don't think anyone said that these people died because they did not believe in God. S
Thnx.

Virginian, thanks for telling us your story! There are many people out there with very distinct interventions, but it seems so more plausible to hear them first-hand.

About God intervening, and angels intervening -- Jesus urged us to ask God for things.

And I'm glad you told your story. This is one of the exceptions I was referring to for God to intervene on the behalf of a non-believer.

I don't know if angels are actually assigned to us, but the last three or four times I was aware that one was on the job for me, I recognized him as the same one each time, even though I couldn't see him with my natural eyes.

Your story reminded me of this one.

Kevin and I were both Christians and working for a home building contractor. Four of us were unloading a semi trailer of supplies and storing them in a house. Kevin's job was to move the boxes to the rear of the trailer. There was a thin dusting of sand on the floor which made it possible for him to slide the boxes rather than having to pick them up.

I was pulling the box I was going to carry off the trailer when I happened to look at the other guys waiting their turn. They were looking at something in the trailer with comical drop-jawed astonishment on their faces. My box blocked my view so I looked around it and saw Kevin picking himself up off the floor. I thought, "OK, he slipped on the sand, but why didn't I hear him hit the wooden floor?". I asked one of the guys what had happened. He said that Kevin had fallen in slow motion. I talked to Kevin later and he said that someone caught him from behind under the arms and gently lowered him down.

Wow, Virginian.

Yes, I believe that angels are assigned to us. Two verses help explain their ministry:

"Bless the Lord, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word, Psalm 103:20.

"Are they [angels] not all ministering spirits sent for those who will inherit salvation?" Hebrews 1:14

Angels are sent to minister to us, those who will inherit salvation, and further, angels obey the voice of God's word.

I believe we release angels as we pray the Word of God, and also pray according to God's will. I believe that the most powerful prayers come from those who first of all have a clean heart (Ps. 66:18), and who are willing to listen to God and follow His directives on how to pray. This is consistent with Scripture, where Jesus said, "Follow Me," John 12:26.

We need to allow these tragic events to return things back to mind -- reporting suspicious activity, praying for friends, using time well, treating others with value, setting up response plans.

There was no sense in this violence, but we can bring sense to the situation.

Wow. I like how that incident didn't appear to be a life-and-death risk, but might have been had he hit his head.

I can't think of the number of times things could have gone much more horribly wrong in my life and for some reason I avoided the worst. Granted I didn't get away scott free, but looking back at how bad it could be, I cannot complain. (an example, yes my ex-girlfriend left me in financial dire straits, but had I not gotten some intervention, she could have made my life a perminent nightmare)

In fact, a lot of things that have happened, I can pull some lesson out of and grow as a person. Several of these have helped me move along spiritually as a Christian. I can also feel that there was a presence there when these happened that blocked out the worst.
So maybe instead of asking 'Why is it so bad?' ask 'Why wasn't it a lot worse.'

I sometimes wonder if my guardian angel isn't due for some overtime or a long vacation.

O angel of God, my holy guardian, given to me from heaven, enlighten me this day, and save me from all evil. Instruct me in doing good deeds, and set me on the path of salvation. Amen.

Hi,

I was slammed in the rear end of my car with the other guy going 50 mph plus and I was going 12 mph.

I felt the seat belt work, but felt more than that. I felt that I was being held back by something.

Serious accident, and not a lot of damage to me, very little in fact.

So, just treasure those things in my heart.

Hugs:hug:

In the Virginia Tech Shooting, where were the guardian angels of the victims, why didn't the shooters guardian angel stop him. If every soul has a guardian, why do we rarely hear of them helping anyone?

Why would God give you something that is of no use?

As read by the second reply I saw, that it does not state "everyone" has a Guardian Angel, and from many studies in it one scholar of the Word had surmised by many years of research a number of 100,000,000 angels, with a third of the angels having sided with Lucifer in his time of rebellion, leaving of course a reduction in angel population in heaven, that's from his research and my statement on the matter.

However I do know that one is always watching, and that though things happen without what seems to us as unreasonable, or without one does have a meaning and a reason: Book of Seasons, Eccl. Named one for this so purpose I believe because in it's scripture states: ALL things have a place, a time, and a reason. While our mortal comprehension may not understand the grand works, I do no that no one dies without having completed their appointed task, for believe it or not there is always someone outside of the entire thing who learns a very valuable lesson from it all.

-also- for note: CNN had footage of the shooters waving around guns; again, it could have been prevented if they took the time to pick up the phone and call the F.B.I; even the Department of Homeland Security would get involved in this case - true moral - stop watching the news and giving them air-time for the corruption they allow to play constantly, I can't even turn on the news without it saying something bad. news=ratings And that is all they care about.

Anyways, do not lose heart in the power of the angelus, or in God's holy beings; I've seen them work in ways doctors have been unable to in hundreds of years of medical research.

cairiii,

Judging from Heron's and my stories, you might get the idea that if angels do intervene, it's only to save us from our own stupidity and do nothing under different circumstances.

On his broadcast, John Hagee told about the time a man walked up to the pulpit while he was preaching, pulled out a revolver and emptied it at him at less than ten feet away. All six shots missed and lodged into the wall behind him. Three went to the right and three went to the left. I have shot a .38 Special snubnose which is notorious for its lousy accuracy. He didn't say what type of revolver it was, but even if the man was high, that snubnose is accurate enough to hit someone as *cough* wide as Hagee at that distance. He believes an angel stood in front of him and deflected the bullets. I would consider that a safe bet.

While in a third world country, the evangelist, Lester Sumrall had a man walk into his office and admit to trying for weeks to shoot him with a rifle whenever he was walking the trails in the woods. The ammunition always misfired when he had the rifle aimed at Sumrall, but worked fine any other time. Sumrall told him he knew what was going on. He could hear the metallic clicking in the distance. I don't know that angels were involved, but God certainly was.

I definitely know where you're coming from. I wonder the same thing! But, perhaps the angels we do hear about are those of souls in the afterlife, and that angels could be glamourized in pop culture and around the world, as well. That's one theory...

Heb 1:14 Angels are merely spirits sent to serve people who are going to be saved.

I would recommend reading 'Brush of an Angel's Wing' by Charlie W Shedd...
its a old book, but really helpful into the angel side of life... I think it would answer a lot of ur questions...

also, how can we expect God to help us if He isn't apart of our lives? He isn't obligated to help anyone who isn't part of His family. If a stranger walked up to me and asked for $100, I wouldn't give it to him, but if it was a family member or a close friend, I would have no worries giving it to them... I hope u understand what I mean, I don't mean to come across harsh or rude, but this is my view on things...

God loves every one on this earth and doesn't want bad things to happen... but if we shut him out of our lives, and allow satan in... how can we blame God for what happens...

Ultimately, He sees the bigger picture, so things always happen for a reason - and most of the time, only God knows those reasons... Hard, I know. Sometimes it would just be so much easier if God just sent us a post card or an email... LOL :D but He knows best!
