Why are creationists so threatened by science?

Yes, we are dealing with a very small part of the theory. The part that has to do with animals eating animals. So you have at least 4 billion years of evolution that has nothing to do with the fallen condition of man. It is only the last 250 million years that we are concerned with. God intended Creation to be herbivorous not carnivorous.
? Or not. Jesus ate fish, and presumably, lamb for pass-over.

You mean it got "Plutoed?" ;)
Actually, 86'd is more accurate, as GA was done away with.

Plutoed means downgraded or downsized.

Some Internet scientists like to accuse me of saying Pluto no longer exists, when I harp on Pluto getting downsized.

In other words, they think I'm saying Pluto got 86'd, when I say Pluto got plutoed.

I feel for these guys who spent tens of thousands of dollars to get an education, then come here and can't post without using the wrong words.

OK, I think I see the distinction. I didn't even know that "pluto" was a new term until you used it here! LOL

Yes, we are dealing with a very small part of the theory. The part that has to do with animals eating animals.

There is a much bigger picture than that. First, evolution explains why complex life falls into a nested hierarchy. The nested hierarchy is one of the overarching facts in biology, and only through evolution can we make sense of this fact. This nested hierarchy includes billions of species, and this is just a start.

Evolution also explains why we can find modern mammals in Cambrian strata. It also explains why humans and fish have an inverted retina while squid, who share the same environment as fish, have a forward facing retina. Without evolution, none of the facts in biology make sense.

So you have at least 4 billion years of evolution that has nothing to do with the fallen condition of man. It is only the last 250 million years that we are concerned with. God intended Creation to be herbivorous not carnivorous.

Evidence?

I thought you knew that "plutoed" was voted the 2006 Word-of-the-Year by the American Dialetical Society?
Pluto's revenge: 'Word of the Year' award

Pluto may no longer be a planet, but it has a new claim to fame: "Plutoed" has been chosen 2006 Word of the Year by the American Dialect Society.

The society defined "to pluto" as "to demote or devalue someone or something, as happened to the former planet Pluto when the General Assembly of the International Astronomical Union decided Pluto no longer met its definition of a planet."

The former planet had some tough competition in the voting, which took place Friday at the ADS' annual meeting, held in Anaheim, California.

Jesus did not eat the pass over lamb, He was the lamb. The angels that visited with Abraham were said to have eaten meat. Even though they are spiritual and not of this world. The Bible says to eat whatever people feed you and don't worry about it. When your cooking for yourself, then it is a different story. There are strict laws to regulate the food we are to eat. The point being that to eat animals is a part of the fall. When God redeems and restores mankind then the animals well no longer consume each other. They will eat the grass (grains) like the ox.

Evidence?

The evidence is in Isaiah 11 where we see what the world will be like after the redemption. The wolf and the lamb will dwell together. They shall not hurt or destroy.

Isaiah 11:6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fat ling together; and a little child shall lead them.

Isaiah 11:7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

Isaiah 11:8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.

Isaiah 11:9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

This is not evidence, but assertion. Evidence would be actual examples of this, which you don't have at this point, and which all available evidence suggests your claim will most likely never happen.

What is a "nested hierarchy"? Is that like a birds nest?

It is the "tree of life" where similarities fall into groups within groups. For example, all mammals are vertebrates. There is no mammal without a backbone. Also, birds are vertebrates as well, but we do not find a mixture of bird and mammal features. We do not find a livng or dead species with feathers and cusped cheek teeth, as one example.

This pattern of similarity and divergence screams evolution. Only evolution can explain why we see this pattern. Intelligent designs do not fall into a nested hierarchy as any comparisons of cars or computers will show you.

I for one, would believe in the God of Christianity. What would be the implications of that?

A change in your faith icon, not only in this forum but your life in general. A faith in the Trinity should transform your whole worldview. Dead to your old self and born anew in Christ. I've experienced quibbles in my faith, but its intimidating to imagine the fear and love one must feel at a full 180 degree conversion. Those who have done it are now considered some of the greats in Christendom (Saul aka Paul, James, really all the disciples, Augustine, C.S. Lewis, Ravi Zacharias, and many others)

And what of creationism? is belief in such nonsense a requirement of the faith?

Well its not what's considered an essential doctrine to the Christian faith. I would say the important part would be to accept God as the sole creator and to accept the Fall of man. Whether it YEC or OEC i think they are periphreral concerns. With each comes different interpretations of scripture and these are more of an in house debate.
