This is a question that I have directly asked many posters here, all without result. Some have responded with spluttering along the lines of "Who do you think is in charge here? Is this the kind of world God wants?"but no straight, or more importantly no Biblical answers.

So now I'm asking for an answer that is both straight and Biblical. The question is this: Who's in charge here, right now? The answer should be easy; one quote from the Gospels should do it. If not, then explain your position.

Jesus said that the devil is the prince of this world, John 12:31; 16:11.

I take that to mean that he is a being with a certain amount of power and has charge, or control, over some things in the world. But, for me, God is king; the devil can do nothing without God's knowledge, authority or permission (see Job ch 1) - and the devil will never rule because our king can't die and won't abdicate. :sunglasses: :D

"Who do you think is in charge here?

"And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth"

The correct answer really depends on where you place Revelation 11 in the Biblical chronology. The preterists erroneously insert the Temple from Rev 11 at the DofJ. Jesus has all power in heaven and in earth but, according to the 24 elders, will not begin to use it until after the 42 months from Rev. 11:

"O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned"

We are gonna just have to wait until after the Seventh Trumpet.

there is no placing the chronology of the Rev, if that's what you mean. It is all over the place, the opposite of a chronology. That was not its purpose.

The chronology of the Bible on the end of time is much simpler, per 2 Pet 3. There is nothing Judaic. There is nothing about geo-politics. There is, like Rom 2, just the final day of judgement and the destruction of this earth to make way for the NHNE. Or as Eph 1 puts it, there is this age and the one to come.

The Rev is a pastoral montage about God being in charge even in the darkest days. Therefore most posting here is a ridiculous attempt to solve a broken Rubic's cube. Any person can see this at one glance at the forum itself. Perfectly intelligent guys, dozens, and almost no agreement on anything.

Christ reigns currently, but the purpose of the reign is not to make all events and powers on earth lovely and smooth. It is to show to the principalities and powers above (!) that God's power and wisdom can indeed create a community of people from all corners who glorify him for the Gospel and love each other through it, Eph 3:7-13. If you missed this purpose, and this type of reign, it may be because you missed out that through this Gospel:
Gentiles are heirs together with Israel v6
members together in one body/community/dar
sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus

I don't know whether this body--this reign of Christ-- can show this world's powers and rulers anything; its stated purpose is to show the victory of the church to beings above. So some of you who "need" an actual force that can be spoken of on this evenings news are going to be disappointed. (I mention that because one thread here is "Bible news"). It is a kingdom that is not by human hands, and not of this world (in origin).

This is not abstract, as you can see from v13. Paul suffers persecution, but the suffering is the glory of the readers of this letter. Because everything God purposed in Christ was successful, proven by the very existence of Gentile believers--and that's us.

Jesus is in charge. He has been ruling the earth since 312 AD when the sign of the Son of Man appeared in the clouds, and Jesus came into power through St. Constantine who rode a white horse and conquered with a bow. Jesus now rules the earth through the US which was founded by George Washington who rode a pale horse.

Easy...
Matthew 28:16-20 (NASB) 16 But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated.
17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful.
18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying,
"All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

And he said these words to his Disciples just after he had arisen from the dead. This is also the event where Satan was cast out of heaven to the earth. See Revelation 12 which is an historical chronology of the history of the Church from the time of Jesus birth until the flight of the Christians from Jerusalem to Pella just before the great tribulation of Jerusalem just as Jesus had prophesied.

This is a fulfillment of Zechariah 14:9

Zechariah 14:9 (NASB) 9 And the LORD will be king over all the earth; in that day (The very day of the crucifixion) the LORD will be the only one, and His name the only one.

Just one of many passages of Zechariah Chapters 9-14 that were fulfilled by Jesus at the cross.

Everything.
As we used to say in the Olden Days, *.* (star dot star)
I'm going to ask you this very simple question. What does it matter who rules the Earth at this time? You believe in Jesus Christ and that is ALL that matters. I'm going to assume that you TRY to lead your life in a manner that pleases Him. Why would it matter if Satan ruled the planet?
If ALL of your family members and ALL of your friends and neighbors were atheists or even Satanists, would that stop you from believing in the Lord?
If Congress passed a law that made believing in Jesus Christ illegal, would you stop believing in Him?

Interesting answer, but not in agreement with Scripture.

Quite a lot, I'd say. Try to imagine a world controlled by, say, me. Scary thought, and should be.

And yes, it's Matthew 28:18 that I was looking for. The point being that the followers of Dispensational Futurism typically deny that our Lord Christ currently holds all power in Heaven and Earth, preferring to believe that Satan is in control here.

I wouldn't say that Satan is in control but he definitely has influence in our world.
