  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I thought Colin was a real cutie pie! I loved the fact that he was chubby- just made him even cuter to me. But I also thought Tom Baker was a hottie back when he was the Dr. He'll always be my fave. Eccleson's not very attractive...but Tennant is! :D

I agree, he was a cuttie. And being a bit chubby sorta added to that. And I loved his 'sarcastic' version of the doctor (snarky is what I guess they call it today).

Um, pardon my ignorance but who was Eccleson? I didn't pay attention to the name of this last Doctor and I assumed it was Tennant, so who was Eccleson (dr. #8?)

I'll tell ya, one thing I miss about moving to where I am is the distinct lack of Dr. Who fanclubs. My husband and I belonged to 3 of them when we were in the tri-state area (NY/NJ/CT)

Eccleson is the Dr. on the new episodes for season 1. David Tennant is going to be the Dr. for season 2 and he's a hottie! :D The 8th Dr was Paul McGhan- GORGEOUS HUNK! Wish he'd lasted a bit longer.

(Hee hee! I used to think Colin had the CUTEST rear end!)

LOL! How could you tell with that long coat he wore ;)

Okay, I gotcha. 2 doctors for this new series. but not supposed to be regenerations of "The Doctor" I'm guessing. Just a casting change.

I gotta get some of these things on DVD. Have they come out with Seasons on DVD or just the individual episodes. That would be horrendously expensive. I want to pick up the Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy Seasons on DVD.

Lubi's my sis so I know what episode she's talking about. I think it's the 2 doctors- the one where Patrick Troughton visits. Colin didn't wear his coat for a lot of that episode.

LOL! Now there's a pun...going south...tush...

Hey at least we aren't doing the boxers vs. briefs discussion that inevitably shows up on fandom sites. ;)

They have many Doctor Who stories on dvds from 1963 to 1989 and in July they will have the entire 2005 season on a set of dvds.

So you from Long Island, Islander??? :) Now there was a region with good Dr. Who clubs.

BTW: I know about individual DVDs for various episodes, but if the 6th Doctor had 3 seasons and had about 20 eps per season (I can't remember the exact #), I'd have to spend a fortune for 60 episodes individually. What I want is the full season for the usual $40 or $50 per season. Anyone know of a boxed set for the 6th and 7th doctors.

I was in a rush when I posted but I had wanted to comment that selling it as single adventures instead of seasons seems like a rip off. I think part of the problem is there are episodes missing from older seasons but I don't think that's the main reason. The main reason for not selling it by seasons is that they are selling single stories for the same price or in most cases for higher prices than new releases of popular movies. At those prices they can get as much money selling two adventures as they would selling an entire season. The prices for the single adventures are way too high.

I'm not from Long Island but I'm a graduate of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi which has Islander as the mascot.

I agree completely. I will just watch my husbands old videos I guess. I think it is a rip off to do this to the fans because I'm sure they have made their money back on the series long ago and to charge more for one or two episodes than one would pay for a movie is pretty ridiculous. Problem is they don't realize such things lead to bootlegging of copies.

Oh gotcha, Texas A&M. didn't know their mascot was called Islander.

It's a shame about the prices of the DVD's. I taped all the Tom Baker episodes from TV, cause at the time all I cared about was Tom as the Dr. Now I wish I'd taped some of the other doctors...

My husband has each and every episode ever aired on American TV (to the best of his knowledge) on tape (though they are buried in a closet somewhere in the house) for Doctors 1 through 5. He also had several of Doctor 6 and 7 but not all, plus some professionally done tapes. Talons of Weng Chieng (spelling?) is one of them and that's probably my least favorite of Tom Baker's episodes.

Well, hopefully, this new series will encourage more Who Conventions here in the US. I haven't been to one in years.

I finally looked up David Tennant and discovered that he was Barty Crouch Jr. in HP and the Goblet of Fire. Interesting.
