who possibly recorded the creation of everything, if people weren't invented yet?
also, something else that doesn't make sense...how did the population grow? we all know that incest leads to the offspring being disabled because the genetics are too close. so explain that one?
If you understand the Bible it all was wrote as God put his Spirit upon men to write. So therefore men did not have to be there at Creation for the Bible is inspired of God. While incest is now frowned upon and genetically altering, it was not so in the beginning. For to be fruitful and multiply incest had to be practiced in the beginning. Incest was not wrong in the beginning because it was needed practice. Even a man who died it was considered right in the beginning for his brother to take his wife. Now it is wrong because we have multiplied considerably, and there is no need to sleep with your own family.

As other have said God inspired people to write the books of the Bible and a person was not needed at creation to write the book of Genesis. It traditionally held by Christians and Jews, and probable also Muslims that Moses wrote the book of Genesis while under the inspiration of God.

You should look up the Wiseman Hypothesis, or Tablet Theory. This states that early parts of the Bible (i.e Genesis) were written by the antideluvian patriachs i.e Adam, Noah etc. This means the Bible is actually based on real eyewitness accounts, and it 100% historically accurate.

Genesis 1: 1 - Genesis 2: 4a - Author = God (?)
Genesis 2: 4b - Genesis 5: 1a - Author = Adam
etc

Because the antideluvians were superior genetically. The Bible gives great ages for such people like Adam etc up to 900 years.

Genesis is not a history book. It is not a science book. It is not a geography book.

If you try to take it literally you will never understand it.

I agree and believe it to be a metaphor for God breathing life into us. Maybe Adam and Eve represent the idea that at some moment people were aware of God. And it is Him who created us all.

Genesis, according to tradition was written down by Moses. Did he write it down in the exact form that we see in the Bible? Probably not.

I don't look at Genesis as much as a history of mankind, but instead, God's revelation to Moses of his interaction with mankind. It reveals much about Jesus and Christianity.

Genesis is an ancient Jewish work. JEPD suggests compilation, while orthodox tradition suggests a single authoritative source. Any theory has one common argument. Genesis is an ancient Jewish work. The more you learn about ancient Judaism, the more you will discover about Genesis. The identity of the author is a data rich issue, but the valuable information is in the culture, not the person, who wrote that text. To accredit it to God is to assume it's true, but to study the culture that made it is the best way to discover its relevance.

Jesus said that Moses wrote Genesis. That's good enough for me.

Mark 12
26 But concerning the dead, that they rise, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the burning bush passage, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’?

In this quote, Jesus does not say Moses wrote it. Jesus refers to the text as "the Book of Moses," which was a title for the Torah in his culture.

The Torah has always included Genesis.

Yep. I don't disagree.

All I'm saying is that Jesus refers to the Torah as "the Book of Moses." That still does not say anything about Jesus' opinion on who its author was. He refers to it as that because that is how his audience referred to it.

It would be like a person referring to "The Strange Case of Benjamin Button," and arguing that the person clearly believes it was written by Benjamin Button.

Again, though, it is far more meaningful to study the cultures from which these documents came in order to understand their content. Parsing words from texts or arguing over specific authorship does little to explain the meanings of these ancient texts.
