I do like how a party moving to a better candidate is seen by some posters as awful, dishonest, conniving etc even though they've been calling for it for months.

The right time to move to a better candidate was before the primaries. Of course, at that point they were still trying to convince people that Biden was sharper than he'd ever been in his life, so that didn't quite happen.

How do you know the wishes of the primary voters haven't changed in the meantime? In any case, primaries are not constitutional elections and in fact are a relative novelty in American politics. Presidential primaries are private elections and not all states have them. They run in accordance with party rules and do not elect a candidate (there will be no official candidate until one is nominated in convention) they elect delegates to a convention who are pledged to vote for one potential nominee. There is in place a legal and orderly procedure for them to change their vote.
Democracy is alive and well in this case and not being circumvented.
Yeah we don't know at all what the voters would have done had Bidens performance been as bad before the primaries as it is now. I think a lot of them would have moved to someone else. Who that would have been I don't know.

The fact that Biden has been declining so badly this was rhe right thing to do whether he was forced out or not.

If you ask me he should been forced out if he wouldn't just bow out on his own. For the good of the country.

I'd love to see Michelle Obama run, but she doesn't want the job, so I'm fine with Kamala Harris. Really, I'll vote for anybody the Democrats pick over Trump. This could have been a good time for Republicans to take over if they hadn't caved in to Trump again, but now I'm stuck voting for the Democrat nominee.

It should be fun to see how the Democrat convention works this time around. I'm used to the candidate basically being selected well before the convention even begins. Shaking things up makes things more interesting.

I am a centrist, but voted for Biden in 2020 (as I have leaned Democrat at the time), the first presidential election for me ever. In 2024, I am gonna go for third party this year, Peter Sonski. But, if I wanted anyone to replace Joe and was forced to vote Democrat at phaser-point, my pick would have to be Kamala, cos that is what others are going with.

Being held at phaser point by Kirk.

I'm more of a moderate Republican. I voted for Gary Johnson in 2016. I refused to vote for either Clinton or Trump. I didn't vote for 2020. In 2024, I will probably vote for Trump, which I'm not happy about, by any means.

'Democracy, Democrat style.
16 million voted in the primaries.
243 delegates allotted.
Alas, the party has spoken. Shut up, voters.
Careful - talking points like this might get people thinking about the absurdity of someone getting millions of votes less and still potentially winning an election.

Who authorized you to speak on behalf of tens of millions of voters?
That is your come-back? Weak.

In case you have not been keeping up on current events, democrats are rallying behind Harris, and the donations in the last few days is up around 100 million. WE support whoever will be the nominee.

It doesn't really matter who the Democratic voters would pick, because the Democratic Party has decided that they need to circumvent democracy to "save" it. The party will instill whoever they want and completely disregard the wishes of the primary voters.
By going back to the times when they picked the nominee at the convention and not before?
Sounds rather “conservative” to my ears.

The right time for Biden to "decide he was unable to run" was BEFORE the primaries so that the voters could select their candidate.

It's great that you're fine with whoever the Democrats choose to serve up to you. But stop pretending like you're concerned about democracy when you're OK with circumventing the process at all costs to win.
Biden did politics wrong! ?
Please stop.

In all seriousness, if Kamala actually ever becomes president, I'd invest in a bomb shelter.
I am blessed to live in an area far enough from major cities, in a smaller city of a few hundred thousand people, so no nukes near me. :)

Bomb shelters were a scam anyways…what it really was about was how to get the general population to self-bury themselves in the event of nuclear war, so whatever survivors there were didn’t have to dig mass graves.

I see your point. But, if you want to keep the Republicans moderate, as a protest vote, you can vote for Chris Christie or Liz Cheney, or even Gary Johnson. Trump is by no means moderate, and is in a ring of far-right elites. My Republican friend here on the forum is voting either for Liz Cheney, or for someone else.

Yeah, I would not want to live in a bomb shelter. God told Christians to not have any fear. :)

Isaiah 41:10 (ESV): "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Psalm 46:1-2 (ESV): "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea."

Bernie Sanders. :tearsofjoy:
Many did. I did. The Harris candidacy is being painted by the Right as a "stolen nomination" but if there was ever a stolen nomination it was Bernie's.

Well of course they are. Now. But two days ago, AOC said this on her Instagram live:

“If you think that there is consensus among the people who want Joe Biden to leave that they will support Kamala — Vice President Harris — you would be mistaken,”
But now that Biden's out, the narrative must be rewritten, which is why AOC has already endorsed Harris.

It's really quite surprising that you honestly think you speak for everyone.

And yes, I am aware that the donors basically ransomed Biden out of the election. It must be comforting to know that the powerbrokers in the Democratic Party wield all that power and can change candidates at the drop of a hat with no input from the electorate.

By changing the rules mid-game.

If the primaries don't matter, why do we even bother to have them? But we did, and the message from the Democrats is, thanks for your vote, but we've decided to do whatever the heck we want.

Ah, democracy!

Republicans to Biden: You are too old and you should step aside.

Biden to Everybody: I am stepping aside and will not run again.

Republicans to Biden: NO, YOU CAN"T STEP ASIDE!

Everyone not encumbered by tribal politics: You should have stepped aside before the primaries.
