I don't understand the whole concept. If someone is FOR McCain, why are they flashing images of Obama all over the place? Why not have "McCain/Palin" in your signature, or your avatar, or your bumper sticker, or anything else, instead of "Nobama" or something else snarky? This proposed legislation would create a federally guaranteed "fundamental right" to abortion through all nine months of pregnancy, including, as Cardinal Justin Rigali of Philadelphia has noted in a statement condemning the proposed Act, 'a right to abort a fully developed child in the final weeks for undefined 'health' reasons.'
In essence, FOCA would abolish virtually every existing state and federal limitation on abortion, including parental consent and notification laws for minors, state and federal funding restrictions on abortion, and conscience protections for pro-life citizens working in the health-care industry-protections against being forced to participate in the practice of abortion or else lose their jobs.
The pro-abortion National Organization for Women has proclaimed with approval that FOCA would "sweep away hundreds of anti-abortion laws [and] policies
It gets worse. Obama, unlike even many 'pro-choice' legislators, opposed the ban on partial-birth abortions when he served in the Illinois legislature and condemned the Supreme Court decision that upheld legislation banning this heinous practice.
He has referred to a baby conceived inadvertently by a young woman as a 'punishment' that she should not endure. He has stated that women's equality requires access to abortion on demand.
Appallingly, he wishes to strip federal funding from pro-life crisis pregnancy centers that provide alternatives to abortion for pregnant women in need. There is certainly nothing 'pro-choice' about that.
EXACTLY!This is my point. You are not voting for McCain, you are voting against Obama. I don't like this kind of negativity.
I haven't verified this yet - but it's alarming if true! and with his past record on partial birth & comment about pregnancy being punishment to women... I have little reason to doubt it as of yet.But Obama would not stop there. He has co-sponsored a bill-strongly opposed by McCain-that would authorize the large-scale industrial production of human embryos for use in biomedical research in which they would be killed.
In fact, the bill Obama co-sponsored would effectively require the killing of human beings in the embryonic stage that were produced by cloning. It would make it a federal crime for a woman to save an embryo by agreeing to have the tiny developing human being implanted in her womb so that he or she could be brought to term.
This "clone and kill" bill would, if enacted, bring something to America that has heretofore existed only in China-the equivalent of legally mandated abortion.
I voted already, by mail, as is done in this state. Under the proverb, "You can't please everyone," I will abide by the secret ballot principle and not say who I voted for. Because I don't want to hear it.
The purpose of a Christian website should be to lead the world to Christ, not to lead people to vote any particular way. I am sick of politics, and I am sick of someone's Christianity being called into question because of who they want to vote for. I am sick of campaigning not FOR your chosen candidate, but AGAINST the other. And I am sick of the fact that, no matter how much I say that, mud-slinging on both sides is not going to stop.

AND we can do both - I keep seeing this either/or attitude that gets promoted - I'd like to think we can have priorities that are equally important to us.
Just like a husband can both love his wife and children AND love his job & try to do a good job with family AND career, etc. etc. It doesn't have to be that we let go of one to try to keep the other going strongly.

While I do agree this is a Christian forum...and we should be of a mind that all we do...we do to the glory, honor and praise of God...
...there are many aspects to the boards...having dialog on a variety of subjects, cares and concerns with other Christians is a blessing.
We share a lot of personal thoughts on these boards...not all of them have to do with evangelism...I think you have been a blessing in your thread and have given others an opportunity to be blessings as well.
The election is right around the corner...this election weighs heavy on the hearts of many Christians...some handle it better than others...in different ways.
I say I voted against Obama because I'm not over the moon thrilled with McCain either...
...but I agree with Nadiine...this is the first time I've ever found a political candidate down right frightening on many levels.
I feel bad you're so troubled by this...perhaps it would be better if you just stayed away from the political threads...it might give you more peace.

When the Gospel has been spread, and society has been changed it has been apolitical. It has been through the sweat, tears, and sometimes blood of men and women carrying the Gospel message. You can not legislate morality, and no amount of legislation will save people's souls.
Everytime that politics and the church have become closely intertwined - from Constantine onwards - it has been bad, bad news.
The problem is it a lot easier to give money to a candidate, talk politics and vote than it is to go out and get involved with lost people. It is a lot easier to talk or debate politics than it is to win souls. As long as we are more focused on politics - and overall the church in America IS today - then we will not see real change in our society.

There are a few things I'm overly passionate about
innocent infants being murdered in the womb and innocent animals being tortured; both strike a cord in me that makes me want to lash out at whoever's promoting it.
BO. is one who I lash out at due to what I know of his pro infanticide positions - they aren't even pro choice; pro choice is NEUTRAL compared to setting things up for promotion of on demand abortion AND not funding anyone who tries to save them!
Yes my post is stern, but that's how strongly I feel. I"ve seen that video of an abortion and it's utterly haunting to me.
His love of late term abortions makes me sick.
Other than that, to LBF, I"m sorry you feel offended or uncomfortable, I'd probly get this same radicalism in WWMC against McCain no doubt.
