Hopefully, congressional elections will not go the way the Dems had hoped. That would be important to make sure bipartisanship remain intact.

I've always liked it when one party didn't control the whole thing. It does make for nice checks and balances.

I think, though, that we're going to see a dem presidency and a dem Congress.

I think for those looking for some definitive answer, it could be along night. I shall now go torture my treadmill while dinner is cooking to release some anxiety and keep my focus off those things that are out of my hands.
that's what I did - I told my husband I can't handle watching the play by play as it rolls in. It gets my nerves in knots and I can't do anything about it anyways.
So after we ate dinner, I went into the bedroom & watched the tv in there.

& now that I see he's won the election, I won't be watching news for about 4 more years.

If "The One" rises above his extremist past and seizes the moment to actually do what he says he wants to do--unite the country--he can accomplish much. But there's little reason to think he will, in that he's changed his war policy and promises several times during the campaign, changed his stance of NAFTA, changed his tax program, and much more. What we are likely to get in the way of national unity is talk.

Here's one example. Last night there was a lot of speculation by the TV anchors as to who would be in his Cabinet, and there were Obama associates promising, with much fanfare, that he will "reach out" by putting a Republican or two in his Cabinet!

Well, of the fifteen or so names then discussed as possibilities, one was a known Republican. Every president in recent years has included at least one Cabinet member of the opposite party.

Talk is cheap and he's good at talk. All we can do is hope that he doesn't destroy the country, but I doubt that we'll ever see a free election again.

I can't see how we expect the man voted most liberal to "reach out" across party lines.
I might be inclined to say that I wouldn't expect it of any politican who is so radically faithful to their own party lines.
