Who were the Corinthians?

That's where I am right now in the word, and I was just wondering who they were.

and.... if someone could pass on a good website for bible study. Preferably one that doesn't try to tell me what to think, but will just give me some info as to who wrote the passage and maybe a little history lesson or two.

If you look in Acts 18, you see that Paul visited the city and the LORD used him to plant a church there. Corinth was known IIRC throughout the Roman Empire for terrible sins (especially sexual immorality). They were also very carnal church and the LORD used Paul to really get a message across to them and now, to us.
