Maybe you should have asked me about my cryptic name when you helped me formulate it?Okay, smartypantses who haven't changed...Well, if you haven't changed your name, or even if you have, explain to me the meanings of these crazy, cryptic names of y'alls.
FTR, I've never changed, and my name derives from a Latin word that basically means "lady".
I posted on here in a former life as Marjorie (my name in real life). I figured it was a time for a change when I decided to start posting again occasionally. To be honest, I was surprised by how much the board had changed, and didn't feel comfortable posting as myself at first. This name (tekiah teruah) comes from the names of the shofar blasts in the Rosh Hashanah service. Those who knew me before know that I was brought up Jewish and converted to Orthodoxy in high school.

Thanks for the welcome back, guys-- I should have explained myself earlier.![]()
Unfortunately I probably won't be around here for much longer-- I'm leaving tomorrow to study abroad in Sri Lanka for the semester, so my internet access will be scarce!
I'll be in Kandy (in the hill country, well sheltered from the violence in the north and Colombo), doing a program associated with the University of Peradeniya. The program's website is here: http://www.bowdoin.edu/isle/
That's so cool about your professor. Do you know where he was or what he was studying?
