I adopted her name as it means Philos: friend Thei, theos: God she was a great friend of God as she donated all her property to built several monasteries during the Turkish yoke in the 1400s and she took care of the poor, the orphans and establishing schols for young girls... She martyred (beaten by the Turks to death)... Memory eternal...

FTR, I've never changed, and my name derives from a Latin word that basically means "lady".

Maybe you should have asked me about my cryptic name when you helped me formulate it?

I started out as forgivensinner001 then I left and changed my password to some weird alphanumeric so I couldn't log back in. Later I made this sock when I couldn't stay away but a nice mod reset my password for me so I got back on the main account. I changed the name of my first account from forgivensinner001 to Dust and Ashes. I left again with a changed password and when I couldn't stay away, I created Slambo. Someone accused me of trying to deliberately deceive people so I dumped Slambo and came back to this one since the name fit with the title I had in mind so no no one can say I'm trying to hide who I've been.

I posted on here in a former life as Marjorie (my name in real life). I figured it was a time for a change when I decided to start posting again occasionally. To be honest, I was surprised by how much the board had changed, and didn't feel comfortable posting as myself at first. This name (tekiah teruah) comes from the names of the shofar blasts in the Rosh Hashanah service. Those who knew me before know that I was brought up Jewish and converted to Orthodoxy in high school.

Cool; isn't Kandy where they have the shrine around a tooth of the Buddha?

The professor I had was in Batticaloa(sp?), studying a Hindu temple in the Tamil community. I was taking an anthropology/religion course at my university, and he taught me everything I know about Sri Lanka apart from "it used to be a British colony". I hope you'll be able to check in from down there every now and then. Good luck! It was nice having you back even if I didn't realize it was you!
