Lately, we have had a lot of division at my church. there are a lot of people at church who basically "worship" our preacher and see no wrong in him. Recently our preacher resigned because of the issues, but he got reinstated and the side that doesn't want him reinstated argued that he couldn't be because of the church's constitution. that the preacher would have to re-apply in order to be reinstated. The deacons there told a couple other deacons "we don't care what the church constitution says, he is our preacher now, deal with it." Our preacher has also got very upset about some members wanting to visit a church event at another denomination, but the preacher will tell everyone to worship with the Methodists on easter. He also at times brags about the good he has done in the church since he has been there. Some people even feel ignored by him. Who is right and who is wrong?

Probably everyone involved.

Human ego is both fragile and powerful at the same time. Fragile in that most humans are easily offended and quick to defend their stance. Powerful in that it seems to take over mind, emotions and physical actions at times.

Me included, by the way.

The solution is to recognize God is right and may not agree with 'me'. Which is to say everyone has to consider this concept seriously. Pray for the individuals of the 'other side' as individuals. (And both sides have to do this.) Pay attention to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Fat chance, right? All YOU can do is surrender to God and pray about it. Maybe talk calmly to anyone who approaches you.

I agree, and definitely praying for the side that doesn't agree with my side. God is always right, and sometimes people think they are doing what God wants them to do, but it is obvious what they are doing is not very Godly, so it causes friction because you always want to look toward God and nothing else. and the other side want to believe you just do not like someone who is a preacher. that's not the case at all. We just don't think he's acting very christlike with his actions, but the other side thinks he is. it gets very frustrating when you are trying to stay focused on God.

it is a disordered mess. Kind of difficult to talk to the elders at church when they don't see your side.

Have you consider that you are in the wrong? Just asking.

Its distressing to hear about those who cause divisions in the church...is this preacher a new hireling?

Just listen to God and do what He says. The sheep listen to the voice of their shepherd and not another.
