I love, love techno! Trance, house, jungle, industrial.. I love it all! I used to be hardcore into that scene - travelled all over the US and some of Canada going to parties - until Jesus came in and saved me. I couldn't tell you how many drugs I did.. and all at the same time. Yeah, that scene is definitely full of drugs. Praise God I'm out of it!

What are some Christian DJs?!?! I didn't even know they were out there!

electronica is the new rock 'n roll. when it first started up all the conservative christians were like "this is the devel's music, it's all about sex etc" cos it was. whats the name of that track.. "tootey fruity" or something (spelling?)... it's a euphemism.. i'm pretty sure, so i guess rock and roll was tied to a lifestyle that isn't so good. but that has nothing to do with the music itself. the music is amoral (or rather, the concecptual ideas about the music, the loud, rhythmic etc sounds)... its' the same with dance music. it's associated with drug use, and alot of the time the people involved aren't good role moddles (hey, whats new? ) but that doesnt mean that the music itself is bad.
i told my youth paster, when i was in youth group, about how prog trance is cool (yeah, i know everyone hates trance, but whatchagonnado?) cos it takes you on a journey. he (and other people who heard me say that) thought that was dodgey, and that 'only God should take you on a journey" . that's rubbish. what do you read a book for? to be taken on a journey. same with going to hear a symphony. it's a journey.
anyway...

btw, my fav is dnb (esp concord dawn :D ) , breaks, and minamalist, deep, tech house (like house music that's really earthy/ organic repetitive :) )

You know, i've wondered about techno... and using it for the Lord.
I got started on techno through drug use, and although i'm just guessing, i would think that a lot of people get to it through drugs. Not everyone, so don't get all upset. Thats just to set up this point...

if you can put down beats, why not put them down... then insert some stirring scripture or verse in the middle of it with a woman's voice or so. That would be interesting!

especially if it took off and was on high up the charts... i would venture to say that that verse would get itself stuck in someone's head... and might turn them to the Lord.

something to think about
barrett ( not on drugs anymore, but available for discussion )

"Rhythms of Remembrance" by Apt-Core. He does several verses and passages, along with the Apostles' Creed. A female singer by the name of Ginny Owens lends her vocal talent to a couple tracks, it sounds good.

I also like what I've heard from Andy Hunter. And even Rebecca St. James did a few techno songs. If she'd drop the contemporary pop sound completely and did more stuff like the song "Reborn" I'd be picking up those CDs in a second.

Techno is my new favorite genre. The music in my profile icon thing is the kind of techno I listen too mostly, eurotrance..
Awesome thread, I can't remember if I replied to this or not.

I don't really care for Andy Hunter. His stuff just doesn't get me moving. :|

Theres a ton of awesome unheard of christian artists out there. My faves are Could2ground, Dj Lorraine, Dj Light, Nova Sphere, Bonescan, Tresice, J.Davis, Shiloh, Red Saviour, Automate, Voice Industrie, Slyder, more out there but I forget em.
