Who has heard of the Flat Earth conspiracy?

From what I know about it. The flat Earth have a biblical basis if it was interpreted literally. Many disagree and interpret it allegorically. What do you guys think about it?

At the end of the day, the shape of the earth doesn't really matter. You will still have to get up and go to work, or to church, or spend time with family. It doesn't truly impact you, whatever you believe.

As for the gospel, my problem with zealous flat-earthers is they try to evangelize the flat earth over Christ, as if the flat earth will save one from his sins. I say no, preach Christ crucified, and the flat earth should come way after on the list of priorities for one to believe, if one were to come to believe it.

Biblically, the flat earth could be argued to make sense. However, the earth's shape isn't an obvious doctrine one receives from the Bible, and there's a reason for that... because it doesn't matter. God is the maker of heaven and earth, and his Son Jesus is the Redeemer of all mankind; that is what matters.

It is as realistic as saying because the weather forecaster say the 'Sunris' or the 'Sunset' will be at .... They are believers in a flatearth.

I've looked into the flat Earth arguments for about a year now.

It is, essentially, your standard conspiracy theory, where the true believers profess some hidden understanding of how the world works.

It's gained a resurgency through the internet and YouTube, and the current foremost thought is based upon the writings of a thirtiesh yoga instructor, non-christian, who is also a Holocaust denier.

That being said, .... the Bible never says that the Earth is flat. The Bible doesn't say much at all about the nature of the Earth, ... except perhaps what you can glean from poetic writings like Isaiah 40:22 and Job 26:7 ...

The Bible says nothing about the shape of the Earth, flat or sphere. The biblical arguments for flat earth are extremely weak and actually steal glory from God.

I spent months of my life on this forum sharing stuff concerning flat earth. For my efforts, I was continuously mocked and belittled. I won't be providing anything further. Do your own work if you are curious.

Being a "no-hell" Christian, I know just how you feel. However, I have yet to see convincing flat-earth evidence. Can you at least refer me to a good source?

There are (or were) hundreds of independent tests documented on YouTube, where individuals around the world conducted their own tests for things like curvature and movement. I'm sure it wouldn't take much to find some.

That said, more currently active people would be like the people at FECore.org or channels like 'Globebusters' and 'Globebusters 2'. Others include 'Ranty Flat Earth', 'ThePottersClay', 'Dr John D.'. Sites like '7th Day Truth Seeker' is a good aggregator of flat earth material.

I generally take a lot in the old testament as being not only powerfully teaching through metaphors and allegory, but also to have literally happened (though that is less important than the lessons and profound effects we should get from just reading with listening). Sincerely, having read though all the OT twice, and soon it will be a 3rd time, there's nothing even slightly able to be read as if to suggest the Earth is flat if one reads fully, instead of using isolated verses.

It is possible to do that wrongful thing of first having a doctrine, and then reading isolated verses in order to try to see that doctrine. That's not listening to God, though, but it is instead listening to one's own self.

I looked into the moon landings and do not believe we have ever been there. So when I tried this theory it did not pass although it does make you think as for starters the Bible says the creation is earth central as the sun, moon and stars were created for signs and seasons for us days later. The ancient maps and laser experiments and inefficient flight paths are good arguments and they need to be countered with stronger ones. The astronomers can calculate paths and times and orbits based on spherical view and these calculations work for comets, eclipses and star positions. The eclipses show a curve as the shadow covers the moon. The stars are different in the northers and southern hemispheres. So based on stronger evidence I conclude it is a sphere. Do not let this stop you from looking into issues and putting yourself on a jury and weighing the evidence to come to your own conclusions on issues.

People have widely (average people everywhere on Earth) known the Earth is a globe not just for 60 years, since NASA got going, but for centuries.

God works with people in their culture, and at the level of knowledge and understanding that they have. It is true that before scientific advances most people considered the world to be flat.

I for one am not at all surprised to see language in Scripture that would lend itself towards a flat earth model. I suspect most of the Biblical authors probably thought the earth was flat!

I don't see any reason why God would have needed to enlighten the Biblical authors to how the universe worked in order to accomplish His will.

When Joshua said that the sun stood still in the sky, he reported exactly what he saw. It looked like the sun stood still in the sky. God didn't need to reveal to him that actually the miracle was much greater than that because the earth rotates the sun and the sun rotates in the galaxy, and the galaxy is moving through space. The miracle was in actuality much bigger than what Joshua saw. But God didn't need to break it down for him in order to accomplish His will.
