Who, from the Bible, would you want to go to lunch with? Why?

I know this isn't an advice topic but I didn't know where else to post it. I was listening to the radio and this has been the question of the week. So, b/c I like starting threads, and I'm interested in people's responses, I figured I'd ask CF.

So, if you had to choose one person from the Bible to lunch with, who would it be and why? And, to make it interesting, you can't pick Jesus or God.

My answer: It's a toss up between Job and Jonah but I will go with Jonah. I'd ask him to share all of the details of what it was like to be in the belly of the fish (i.e what he saw) then get tossed out.

Paul for me! 1. His books are some of my favorites. 2. He has had some amazing adventures! 3. He was a missionary. 4. I want to know what his thorn in the flesh was (even though I have my own idea--I want to know if I'm right ) 5. If he was the chief of sinners--then what am I?

But then if I couldn't have Paul my second choice would be David!

Solomon, because he was the wisest ever to live, so basically his advise to some of my issues would be really interesting to hear. And I would ask him what David was like as a father, being that he was chosen to be king by God, makes that a fun question lol.

I may not be an expert in Theology but I do know how to use Lexicons...

2 Cor. 12:7

"A thorn in the flesh"
The word σκολοψ signifies a stake, and ανασκολοπιζεσθαι, to be tied to a stake by way of punishment; and it is used to signify the most oppressive afflictions. Whatever it was, it was τησαρκι, in the flesh, i.e. of an outward kind. It was neither sin nor sinfulness, for this could not be given him to prevent his being exalted above measure; for sin never had and never can have this tendency. What this thorn in the flesh might be has given birth to a multitude of conjectures: the ear ache; Chrysostom, κεφαλαλγια, the head ache; Cyprian, many and grievous bodily torments. I believe the apostle to refer simply to the distresses he had endured through the opposition he met with at Corinth; which were as painful and grievous to him as a thorn in his flesh, or his being bound to a stake; for, if he could have devoted himself to destruction, Romans 9:3, for his rebellious and unbelieving countrymen, what must he have suffered on account of an eminent Church being perverted and torn to pieces by a false teacher! God permitted this to keep the apostle humble, and at last completely delivered the Church out of the hands and influence of this deceiver; none, not even the incestuous person, having been turned finally out of the way by the false doctrines there preached.

Aside from the Hero's of scripture, I'd like to have an hour with the Evil one. With the Holy Spirit as a go between, and a way to keep things on the level.. I'd like to know what happened or at least what he thought happened at the fall, and why or where he thinks all of this rebellion is going to lead, and why he thinks the out come presented to us in revelations will not be the out come he can provide.. or If he knows revelations is the correct out come of coming events, then why all of this effort to keep things outside of God's will..

I guess this along the lines of: You can read about lions in books and on the internet, you can see documentaries about them on TV, but even so people still go to zoo to see them up close.. In my lunch date the Holy Spirit would be the zoo/zookeeper keeping the "roaring lion" at bay.

I've always found the character of David compelling...the whole warrior-poet thing. He'd get bored with me very quickly though, as I'm not much of either.

It would be interesting to hear Jeremiah's stories, and how he managed to persevere when everyone probably thought he was just another lunatic. But we probably wouldn't get along, since he seems very outgoing.

Sometimes I wish I could meet Eve just so I could slap her across the face, but that's probably not what the OP meant. (I don't believe in a historical Eve anyway. )
