Who Else is Close?

I prefer the independent fundamental baptist type churches. My spouse, however, is a little more prone to choosing a laid back type of church.

What, if any, other denominations are close to an independent fundamental baptist church, but a little more laid back? Do they exist?

Regular mennonite churches are similar in theology to baptist, but you can go there in jeans and a tshirt and sing worship choruses.

You know, I always thought of Mennonites as very similar to Amish. However, after looking at some websites, etc, I see I was wrong.

BUT, I knew a bunch of Mennonite kids and families growing up and they wore bonnets, dresses, no tv, etc. There must be stricter ones and more laid back ones, huh?

Yep, there are some very socially conservative groups that call themselves mennonites, then there are the regular mennonites who live pretty normal lives. They are all united by similar confessions of faith.

Hmmm. I know my church is somewhat conservative...I'm not really sure about the laid back issue, though.

I have come to learn that despite what the sign says on the door you have to get out there and visit to see what a church congregation is really like.
