I hazard an argument here and suggest that if evolution is something you can't enjoy, there is something wrong with the theory.

You heard it here first folks! Scientific validity is now determined by personal appeal only!

More than that, we're determing Truth by personal appeal.

I don't enjoy Christianity, therefore it must be false!

There are those who say that evolution is something you can't seek, experience or remember
"Those" would be....practically everyone. The ones who think you can seek, experience and remember evolution, are either broadening the definition of evolution, or have shortcomings in their understanding of evolutionary theory.

Evolution occurs over populations, not within individual organisms.

I can feel myself evolving into something...else...something different. With each of these ridiculous...er I mean insightful polls I feel my genetics changing...

The purpose of this thread is to work out whether evolution is something you can enjoy, in a sense. I hazard an argument here and suggest that if evolution is something you can't enjoy, there is something wrong with the theory.
Well since I'm a product of gradual evolution I can't really go out and enjoy it at this moment. It is a process that takes a lot of lifetimes and I only have one.

I suppose I do enjoy the process of adding my genes to the gene pool. If you think of it in terms of evolution.

I can't enjoy free-falling off a building. Something must be wrong with the theory of gravity!

Please make worthwhile threads in the future, Gottservant.

I'm terribly sorry to correct you about your own desires, but you do enjoy falling off a building. The falling triggers adrenaline, which is a pleasurable experience.

Saying that you can receive enjoyment from your Creation is like saying to can enjoy your Conception.

Only at you're conception does Evolution really have any effect on you personally. I'm sure you can derive some Satisfaction and Joy from This Event but during the act itself at the time of it's occurance, you experienced no joy, which, by your reasoning, makes it meaningless.

Your Parents were really the only one's to derive Enjoyment from your Conception (Usually. There are exceptions.:( I'm deeply sorry to those who are results of those exceptions. )

Personal "Evolution" is, if conceivable at all, would be closer akin to Metamorphosis. This can, conceivably, be either Extremely Painful or Pleasurable (Not sure cause I have not yet had such an experience.) But, like Evolution, it's the results that determine it to be benifical of not.

You happen to mutate something useful or you pass on your genes to someone and suddenly you realize, you've just done some evolving... Pop quiz: how are you gratified? Are you gratified that you have advanced evolution or are you self-satisfied?
Evolution takes many generations. Congratulations on winning the "Demonstrates Least Knowleage of the Subject" award.

Evolution, the theory, would seem to be ambivalent on this point, as to how people should be satisfied. This is undoubtedly because evolution is itself very ambivalent about what is derivative and what is absolute. On the one hand something evolves in a derivative fashion and on the other hand evolution is true in an absolute fashion, never changing on the basis of what evolves (because it is held up as a hope that the next evolution will bring something better).
Its a scientific theory, not a religion. If a particular mutation doesnt work, that animal will probably die out in favor of an animal that has a more favorable mutation.

There are those who say that evolution is something you can't seek, experience or remember, making it a lot like the emperor's clothes. The purpose of this thread is to work out whether evolution is something you can enjoy, in a sense. I hazard an argument here and suggest that if evolution is something you can't enjoy, there is something wrong with the theory.
Ooooook....so because we cant actually enjoy a scientific theory...its not valid? Holy smack I think we've found a round square.

Oh... I see... you people aren't actually saying "evolution" you're just mimicking what a GROUP would do. Individuals can't actually say "evolution", am I right?

For living beings with male and female sexes, such as human beings, evolution involves a change of genetic code over time for breeding populations.

The genetic code of the individual does not change over the course of that individual's lifespan.

Therefore, individuals do not evolve.
