What do you guys make of this: below is a link to the story of the Central park rapists of 1989, where 5 youths were sentenced for rape after they confessed. However it is now discovered that they apparently did not commit the crime and another has confessed and through DNA, he has been confirmed to have raped the victim. For the life of me I could not figure out why the 5 would tape confessions of a rape they did not commit, and then I realized this is the same New York police force that sodomized a suspect with a broom handle. I am I wrong to think that perhaps cohersion, if not the same, a least a serious manner was used in this case as well?
