What makes you think that?
Firstly, I have problems following your implicit "God vs. evolution" dichotomy.
Secondly, I feel completely free to say something negative about natural forces - in fact, they can be quite annoying, at times. I fail to see how that´s different with evolution theory (even though - as opposed to other natural forces - it seems to have little to none significance for the way I lead my life).

Atheists have to believe in evolution. They are not free to question that it happened, only how it happened.

If life did not evolve through forces of nature, that does imply that god exists, because everything comes from somewhere.

If God exists, then that implies that the atheist should acknowledge God.

However, they do not, which implies an afterlife in Hell. I was trying to be polite by not mentioning it, but even the ancient Egyptians believed in Hell.

You may feel free to say that evolution itself is unpleasant, but you have vociferously opposed any implication that the existence of the theory has led to genocide, slavery, and people generally acting like animals, because that's what evolution says we are. Actions speak louder than words, so I doubt your claim that you don't mind the association of evolution with the worst human behavior ever recorded.

Don't call me "stupid" and I won't call you names, either. If you don't want to talk to me, fine, but there is no need to be insulting.

Atheists have to believe in evolution. They are not free to question that it happened, only how it happened.

Yes they are free to question, they just have an uphill battle with the evidence. They don't have to believe anything.

If life did not evolve through forces of nature, that does imply that god exists, because everything comes from somewhere.

No, you still have to show that God exists. If evolution is wrong, if abiogenisis is wrong, and if the big bang is wrong that doesn't point to another idea with no evidence. You still have to show that the idea replacing all that lines up with reality.

If God exists, then that implies that the atheist should acknowledge God.

If there was evidence for God, then I would acknowledge there is a God. Worship would be another matter.

However, they do not, which implies an afterlife in Hell. I was trying to be polite by not mentioning it, but even the ancient Egyptians believed in Hell.

So they believed in it, that doesn't show that it is a real place. Show me evidence for hell.

You are still confusing Social Darwinism with the Theory of Evolution. One is a misuse of the idea, the other is a description of biological change through generations due to environmental pressures. And since those things all existed before the theory did, I would say your claim that it is the source of all those things is not true. It is true that Social Darwinism has been used more recently to justify those things, but that doesn't make them moral or right.

Quick question for you:

What happens to an atheist if they say that evolution didn't happen?

While we are at it; what happens to a Christian if they say evolution did happen?

Firstly, all the other atheists will shun them, and secondly, they'll be faced with the knowledge that they're probably going to Hell, as I said, and thirdly, their worldview will be inconsistent and sadly lacking any option for theories of origins. For the Christian, they are regarded as idiots by the general public and called "unscientific," but at least a belief in creationism is consistent with their worldview (some would say evolution is as well) and they can still keep most of their Christian friends (though some of them will beg and plead with the Christian not to stray from "the true way" of belief in evolution because they are influenced by our culture.) So, the Christian does have at least the option to believe that evolution occurred or not, and still have a philosophically consistent worldview.

Can you name one secular alternative theory for the origin of life? Don't talk to me of aliens, who also must have evolved, because that just pushes everything back one step.

It is true that Social Darwinism has been used more recently to justify those things, but that doesn't make them moral or right.

How do you know that? Prove it. Prove that it's wrong for the strong to destroy the weak, which is only natural instinct, according to evolution. If we all really wanted to focus on evolving the human race, prove to me that we would not need to consider letting the weak, sick, and old die, or dispense of them so that they would not drain our vital resources and ability to produce viable offspring. Prove that Hitler violated some rule he shouldn't have broken, and then show me how to arrive at that rule while assuming nothing at all that has not been proven with science.

Since we have to prove everything we say, now, why don't you prove atheists don't have to believe in Hell? Prove that your definition of the word "proof" is required to believe in things. Prove you exist. Prove we aren't just imagining all this. See how productive this sort of "reasoning" is?
Show me evidence for hell.

Okay, I will, if you show me evidence for every single belief you have.

1. "I believe only in things I have evidence for."
2. "I have no evidence that Hell exists.
"Therefore, I do not believe in Hell."

If that's your reasoning, then premise 1. is clearly false. Nobody has proof for everything they believe. In fact, some would say that there actually is no such thing as "proof," if you define it as only a posteriori knowledge, because all logical or even empirical "proof" is based on some a priori assumptions, such as that the physical world is real (something the ancient Greeks, such as Nicomachus, did not believe). Add to that the fact that every epistemology is either circular reasoning or unsupported, and you are going to have a very hard time showing that you have the kind of proof you require to believe in Hell or God for *every*one* your beliefs. And no, it's not "extraordinary," because worldwide, throughout history, almost everyone has believed in some kind of god, so the claim that God exists is not out of the ordinary. It is exceedingly banal.

Another thing I find sort of banal are discussions wherein, "prove it! prove it! prove it!" is demanded, when all kinds of statements are made and implied, with not only no proof, but not even falsifiability. You can't prove that it was wrong for social Darwinists to commit atrocities unless you resort to making up rules based on ideas that are not at all "proven" by science, but least you, Paolos23, acknowledge that it's not so much that you *can't* believe in God, but that even if God's existence were "proven," (though I'm pretty sure even you can't say what you really mean by "proof") you would still openly oppose God almighty who made you, and gave you all the people and things you love. God even enables you to openly oppose Him, and has mercy on you at this very moment, because he can allow anyone's life to end at any time. He is very merciful, and gives us *time* to repent.

Some people, even Christians, are offended by the idea of Hell, but what else is God supposed to do with people who spit in his face in spite of Him giving them life, relationships, computers, communication ability, and intelligence? Would you allow someone in your house who treated you that way? I wouldn't. So, God provides Hell as an escape route for those who hate him, and would not be happy in Heaven, worshiping Him forever. I think it probably burns less to be thrown in Hell than it would to stand in the full presence of the Ancient of Days with your sins still on you, in full rebellion and disobedience, and to be burned by the full force of God's anger. You should hope that Hell does, indeed exist, because it's actually God's mercy.

If you can believe in love, you can believe in God. We can't prove love exists, either, in fact, Penn & Teller did a show about how love is "BS," so I think they have the right idea, if logic is important at all to the atheist. In the secular worldview, you have no more proof for any specific instance of love, even if you're the one feeling that love, than you do for God's existence. According to evolution, it's all just chemicals. By the way, 1 John 4:8 says that "God is love."

And, I'm sort of at a stopping point, here, because I've had these types of discussions many times, and they're all pretty much the same thing, rehashed ad infinitum. My policy is not to debate evolution with atheists, because for them it's basically theology, so I try to respect other people's beliefs, even if I can't agree with them. I realized that natural history had become dogma when I noticed the similarity between carm.org and talk.origins. You can tell when something is dogma by the reaction of the believers when you challenge it.

I think I've made my point. Have a nice day, it's been engaging, and I certainly hope you repent of your sins, someday. Would love to praise the Lord with you in Heaven. :) May the Lord bless you with light and knowledge of the Truth, who is Jesus, the Son of God.

First off, evolution is not a moral code. It is a description of a biological process. I think you are stuck on the description of Evolution as “Survival of the fittest” by Herbert Spencer. The problem is the word fittest denotes a binary state of survival. Really it should be “Survival of the fit enough”. That is a species that is successful in having successive generations. And each species has a different way of doing that. None of that denotes that we have to let the weak, sick, and old die. The answer is it depends, on the resources, on the family group, on the local town or civilization. In this day and age there is plenty to take care of them, and we should. It has been shown time and time again that even the weak, sick and old contribute to society and the next generation.

Hitler committed genocide. If you don’t understand why I am morally repulsed by that, then you do not understand Atheists. And it has nothing to do with biological evolution. It has everything to do with human decency.

Since we have to prove everything we say, now, why don't you prove atheists don't have to believe in Hell? Prove that your definition of the word "proof" is required to believe in things. Prove you exist. Prove we aren't just imagining all this. See how productive this sort of "reasoning" is?

Nice rant. I am not asking for proof, I am asking for evidence. There is a difference. I can’t prove or show evidence that I am not a brain in a vat, but even if I was what difference would it make to my actions? If what you claim to believe is real, don't you think you could show something for it?

Show me evidence for hell.

Okay, I will, if you show me evidence for every single belief you have.

The reason I asked for evidence is because I am tired of Christians assuming they know my mind. They think I am afraid of Hell. But I am free of that fear since I don’t see a reason to believe in it. They think I spurn God, when I just can’t find any reason to believe he exists or has an effect on our world.

The more I talk to Christians the more I think people just want to believe their worldview is the right one and assume, with no evidence other than a single book put together by committee, that it applies to everyone and they can’t stand that others don’t follow. So they put values to them that may or may not be true but fit their world view narrative. It is clear to me that is what you are doing.

You are the one making the claim, I am just saying I don't believe. You have claimed I have no morals, that I worship evolution, and that it is the source of all evil. I think I have shown that it is not the case, and that it is through a misunderstanding of what evolution is you have come to the conclusion you have.

You have not shown me any evidence for you positive claim of a God, other than others have believed. This by itself is not good evidence. At one time many people believed the world was flat, and look how right they turned out to be. No, hiding behind the popularity of an idea is not a defense of the truth of that idea.

Now you are right, even if I find evidence that a God exists, I would question worshiping it. Mainly because what is the point? Will he grant wishes? Will he fix the world problems? Even if all he did was start life on this planet,(which I would be thankful for) if he has done nothing else I don’t see a reason to fall to my knees.

The longer I have lived in this world, the more I see that it is up to us to make it a better place.

I'm sorry, but if you aren't aware that atheists have been around before Darwin was even born, then I suggest you read up on philosophy. The Ancient Greeks had materialists. Even the ones who did believe in gods did not treat them like we do today. The gods to a portion of them were just another aspect of the world.

I could go Buddhist and remain an atheist. Heck, I could even believe in neo-Platonic forms and hold that there is a supernatural realm beyond the natural one. So long as that supernatural realm contains no things we would call "god", I remain an atheist. Gods do not automatically get to fill in every single question we have. If evolution is not true, then I guess we have to start at square one again for the answer to that question. However, do not expect deities to automatically gain a special status in our search for the answer.

Why would I face hell? Even if I came to believe in a god, I am not required to believe in a god that sends people to anything resembling hell, or, for that matter, heaven.

Quick pointer for you:

Evolution does not address origins of life.

I dunno, maybe they want to avoid exploitation. By that I mean Affirmative Action, racial preference schemes in university admissions, paying the costs of the welfare state that is disproportionate to what they receive in benefits. That's stuff I have heard some WN's say.

Oh! You mean treating people fairly, not being a respecter of persons (being objectively impartial), and helping the poor and disenfranchised, are actually wrong or some communist plot? Wow! And all this time I thought Jesus was right!!!!!

And here I thought we were all one human race of one blood and that Matthew 25 was serious....what was I thinking? (sarcasm sometimes speaks the truth loudly)

If they are correct then all white nationalists must then move away NOW and respect the culture of native Americans...go ahead...shoo!
