America is a messed up country this is just another reason why Australia needs to enact a travel ban on Americans travelling to Australia.

Oh, your police shoot women in the head at the cross walk, nice try though.

No, white lives don't matter either. Plenty of white people are unjustly killed by police. I can provide plenty of links of whites gunned down by police under even worse cases of injustice and set free by juries, but white people in America don't really care any more about that than about black people.

America has a serious problem with being callous about the loss of life, and conservatives in their own way are just as callous as liberals.

The world is a messed up place of satan's lies and rebels against God
What a mess this world is in,
I wonder who began it?
Don't ask me,
I'm only visiting this planet.

Sounds good.
Will Australians, who think the US is messed up, still be coming here and rolling the dice on survival?

Extend the ban to cover Canadians they are just plain annoying.

I have never met an Australian I didn't like but you are pushing it.;)

Body cams not on? Of course not. Wonder what the odds are they have this footage and are just lying?

Why in the world would the officer in the passengers seat shoot this woman as she talked to the driver? Can't wait to hear the explanation for that.

He also shot through the door, with the driver (his partner) right there - which is risky. I keep wondering if its a freak accident.

The question would be: Why was he sitting in the car with his gun in his hand?

"Freaky" describes it well. Accident? Could very well be, that would at least explain why he'd shoot past his partner like that...something BTW I had not considered and makes this even worse.

That or something blatant and horrible happened, and he simply shot her, thinking only heaven knows what.

Thing is, without the footage, they get to spin it however they like, and at this point "accident" seems to be what will go the easiest on the cop. :(

I know that doesn't make sense. He would have to unholster it. I thought about that.

But if it was a planned shooting, I would think he would at least aim through the window and not risk hitting his partner by going through the door.

He has had three complaints against him since being on the force and one was dropped. They all seem pretty minor though - I know that people routinely issue complaints on arresting officers to try to claim something unfair happened, so its not always easy to judge by that. Every case worker in my organization gets complaints on them because their clients get annoyed and try to blame them, so I only take so much stock on the news stations digging up that he's had three complaints.

None of them involved guns or killing someone. In fact, since he's only been on the force two years, I'm willing to bet he's never shot or killed anyone yet - the news would have reported it by now if he had since they're looking into his background.

I haven't see conclusively how many shots were fired. If more than one, the bullet through the door could be the second. Or the first.

But, frankly, the only acceptable excuse is "I was in fear of my life." That would be stupid as heck, but it is the only one that appears to work in all circumstances. Police officers who admit to stupidity, recklessness, or carelessness go to jail. "I was in fear of my life" is always judged uncritically.

It is a requirement for them to use their body cams by their state law, but I am curious if they don't have to turn them on until they step out of the car. Doesn't explain on the car having it off too though.

It raises the question that, if this really was an honest accident, what should be done? I'd feel bad sending someone to prison for an accident, but on the other hand a woman's life has been lost.
