As far as America is concerned, she is one of the most Gospel saturated nations in existence. The Church within those shores, she does still minister as we know, shall overcome. The tares element has certainly taken it's toll as it eases into the culture that surrounds, yes, infiltrates (Satan's seat) into that resulting religion. While souls continue to enter into the family of God, walking dead of the above continue to wreak it's way into every corner of that culture, including the last expression of God's earthly justice, now turned unjust at best, to a hateful disposition ('murderous') within so much of our nation's rulers. Those whom are aware of the playbooks being perpetrated by them upon God fearing patriots (would now accuse the patriot of treason), know exactly what I am referring to, as just one example. Feel free to start a thread of your own along those lines, I'm not the least interested in something decades in the making, so, help yourself. I just prefer to contemplate how His fruit has 'remained' in a world that has been given so much.

Any thoughts of how the US or any Gospel-rich society has returned expression back to the Redeemer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The tangent this has sent me off on, probably related to this:

Instead of leaving America free to just be America, the pope (probably under the thumb of Montini at the time) used actual spiritual influence to overburden America's destiny (about 100 years after La Salette). America was somewhat under the influence of the Swedenborgianism-based "Manifest Destiny" already, and needed to be left to digest its own position in its own time.

Susan Haack has criticised the superficially optimistic William James who had a very big personality and cut corners as between private, personal, public, and political fora, for his over permissiveness in irrational negatives (it was "permissible" in his eyes to "permit" something without enough thought-out reason). William James occulted the work of both Charles Peirce and Edmund Husserl who between them covered a lot of knowledge, thinking, language and like essentials, while he cloaked his slippery ideas in niceness. (My potted version of several secondary sources.)

Montini and other Vatican leaders have had a big tendency to limit their vision to jockeying for geostrategic power and to regard parishioners as their "armada" (material dialectic). This is not in any way to knock genuine spirituality, prayer and Holy Scripture / Holy Spirit belief, by some bishops and many others in all periods including now.

Around 1954 we had the change of doctrine, and around 1959 a pope "prayed" to "extend God's kingdom" which he cannot because God's kingdom is God's business: the pope making himself a dominionist.

Other denominations follow the weight of influence of a bigger one. McLuhan warned of the dangers when seizing control of media but some church leaders and "evangelists" didn't tailor their message accordingly.

The phrase "Gospel saturated" reminds me of "burned over country": where I live is certainly that, and my life has mostly been an embodiment of that experience. Now I only want the real Another Comforter.

I was not completely forthright when I said that John 4:35 was all that I received.
The Holy Spirit also brought this verse to my remembrance:
Lamentations 5:10 Our skin was black like an oven because of the terrible famine. (KJV)
But then I saw that the NKJV translates:
10 Our skin is hot as an oven, because of the fever of famine.
As does many other modern translations, so I wanted to take a closer look, and
ended up doing a deep dive into Lamentations.
And this is the famine:
Amos 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land,
not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord:

And these, their blackened masters...
Lamentations 1:5 Her adversaries have become the master,
Her enemies prosper; For the Lord has afflicted her
Because of the multitude of her transgressions.

prodigals son is another tree of knowledge of good and evil, that's why the son that stayed was still some kind of adversary. the good son is like the religious adherents that cling to their self-righteous dogmas who hate their brother. idolizing Jesus they allow no one to enter.

a reality of only truth is not enough, it most certainly spells our doom because truth alone is a corpse with its head cut off from divine goodness.
