We aren't about making rules. If you are afraid you'll become addicted or drunk, you shouldn't participate. Personally, I feel as if you can drink without becoming intoxicated there is nothing wrong with it. If you exercise self-control there is nothing wrong with it. If you don't cause others to stumble, there is nothing wrong with it.

And, BTW, at a tasting you have a sip. You don't just gulp down a whole glass. I would assume especially with stronger liquors you also don't swallow.

So you as a Christian do not appose hard liquor? I'm not juding or anything, just asking. I'm the type of Christian that stays away from alcoholic beverages to avoid addiction.

This:

Also, Gray, I have to be particularly careful because addiction does run in my family, but I'm approaching thirty and have yet to show any signs of developing an addiction or becoming an alcoholic, and it's been some time since I've abused alcohol (which I must confess, I have done in the past). I'm right there with you, though: if you think you're prone to addiction or substance abuse, better to avoid alcohol altogether.

But if you're not, then appreciating the subtleties of whiskey, like wine, is a fun social activity. It's the only liquor I drink straight on anything close to a regular basis, because the aging process and national varieties just provide such a fascinating experience for your palette.

Whiskey is an adorable pup. I've known a few shelties. Nice dogs.

We have a puppy at our house. She's mostly German Shepherd, just turned 6 months old and busy growing. She's going to be a BIG dog. She does her best to drive me crazy. She ate the picnic basket the other day. Shredded wicker everywhere. It could have been worse. She hasn't shredded any furniture. Yet.
