I took it from the OP that she wanted help on how to decide which is the right denomination, not a pitch for anyone's particular favorite.
So, you've decided to go with "perfect" instead of right (which was the question)?
If it turns out that you're actually a Methodist, I'll be sending my apologies.
Right or perfect...same thing.
You or an organization can indeed be correct, be right, when it comes to its stances...and yet be imperfect in other ways. For example, Church X could be 100% right on its doctrines and practices--that which we are supposedly discussing here--and yet have a defect in its Constitutiton by which it makes choosing a new leader upon the death of the old one difficult to do. Or it could be 100% right but not very good at spreading the faith, at evangelism. That would be an imperfection, but the church would still have all its teachings and doctrines exactly correct.
Ok Albion, we are going to split hairs here. Either way I don't see any one Church as having it "all 100% right". There is no Church that is "perfectly right", how about that.
Well, here's the way I look at it. We are here dealing with helping a person who needs some direction and has asked for it. When asked about which church they should join, or else where they can find the right one for them, it's not much help to say in reply, "There aren't any that are any good. Forget it."
For one thing, it is impossible to say with certainty that the truth is not to be found in any church. If there are ten thousand to choose from, it is indeed possible that one of them has it right. Of course, it could be that none of them do, but we cannot just say, categorically, that none CAN.
And even if that were the case, shouldn't we try to direct the person--using the information given about what they are looking for specifically--to the church that is the closest to what they are looking for, or at least suggest how they can decide for themselves?
I actually take these inquiries as special. We've been trusted to take their concerns to heart, such that we will respond as thoroughly and sympathetically as we can.
I gave the best answer I believed in my opinion possible. That was that there is no 100% right, true, and perfect Church but that the Lutheran and Catholic Churches were the best. This is my opinion.
And I never questioned or took exception to your suggestion of those two churches, even though you offered no explanation as to why those might be the most correct.
It was only to the idea you were so insistent upon that no church can be right, and my objection there was only that it's not true.
Yes I did go back to my original post. I said to look for a Church that follows the creeds.
There is no Church that's 100% right
There is no way that anyone can know that, period.
Well I haven't found a Church that is 100% right.
What part of Lutheran doctrine specifically do you not believe is 100% right?
Also, why would you affiliate with a body of believers who hold any doctrines that you believe to be incorrect?
No denomination churches are right. Why are they not right? Because it causes division against the body of Christ. Remember, God is NOT an author of confusion, but of peace (1 Corinthians 14:33). He will not allow the body to be divided against each other. The true church is Christ, he is the head of the church. No other man is ahead of the church other than our Lord Jesus Christ. That is what the bible teaches. Verse Matthew 23:8-12 makes it clear that we only have one teacher, and that is Christ.I have been a Christian for a couple years now.. and I am still confused by all of the denominations.
There seem to be so many.. Which one is right? I wasn't raised in a certain one.. so I am looking at all of these from a complete outsider's perspective.
I know that I need to study Christian history and find these answers myself.. but just wondering if anybody would be able to share general information or how they were able to determine which denomination they were.
No denomination churches are right. Why are they not right? Because it causes division against the body of Christ.
