:):) You didn't. I was over killing the point that modern Lutherans view my view as fallacious, let alone the other settings just for you to keep things in an honest perspective.

:):) In the Kingdom but "outwardly" from my view, going nor not going. I'll share something with you that I normally don't: This isn't in the Book of Concord. God is in the Churches, whether apostate or not, and He is measuring the hearts and puts Truth of His precious Word right in front of those he foreknew before creation. We just don't know who these "elect" are, although most claim they do and we don't know what this Truth actually is when God does place it right under our noses. It's a doom and gloom from the older out-dated Lutheran works that placed me even in a deep depression when I came out of school. Lasted for about two months and now lol at myself and sinfully at others. I don't think you want to go through a depression hence stay with the moderns. Just ol' old Jack and nice working with you.

Oh, I went through depression, for years, partly due to head injuries, but not fully. I know exactly what that is like.

and I suppose a big ol'e amen is due .

The question really is - Are you right? When you agree with the Lord, you are right. When you agree with anyone else, you might NOT be right. The church is made up of your fellow saints, but remember the weeds were left to grow with the wheat until the harvest. Agreement with God makes possible walking with Him and that is what we are about, and when His will becomes our will, we are fulfilling His words. That is "in Christ. in the Spirit" as opposed to human will which is the one we bring to the table and known as "the flesh". Seek and you shall find. Love the truth and you will reach the end of the road, which is life.

Simply agape the Truth (IIThess.2:10b) when one bumps into it, then IIThess.2:11, 12 won't kick in. Ie, I try to cover my bases and agape Truths, half-Truths, watered down Truth, and even Biblical lies hence hopefully won't be receiving the "error's working."

Just ol' old agape Jack, or is it 'love'? That sometimers again

Wanting to join a church is a personal quest. Pray and what you are hearing may help you decide.
It's like deciding between Walmart and Target, they both have food and other stuff, which one do you think you would get the best from?
To me whosoever repents and comes to Jesus Christ is in his church. The building is just the sheep barn.

I agree, however also eyeball the "Statement's of Faith" of each in the simple latest Gov't. census of each Church one's interested in more narrowing down the field.

First and foremost does that Church believe in a "Spiritual baptismal rebirth" or a "Water baptismal rebirth," ie, one admits to the Kingdom of God and the other to the other kingdom. You have "1" life time to figure it out, ie, most 'check' the "other kingdom" box, unknowingly of course.

Just ol' old Jack

I have been a Christian for a couple years now.. and I am still confused by all of the denominations.

There seem to be so many.. Which one is right? I wasn't raised in a certain one.. so I am looking at all of these from a complete outsider's perspective.

I know that I need to study Christian history and find these answers myself.. but just wondering if anybody would be able to share general information or how they were able to determine which denomination they were.

The historical church believed it exactly as it was taught in the epistles up until the fourth century when the Roman influence on the Catholic church began to prevail.

I previously attended Methodist because my parents did.

Once I was old enough to make my own choice, I determined what church to attend based on my own Christian experiences and what was taught in the denomination.

Each person has to study the scriptures for themselves, not accepting any given denominational doctrine that is not supported by the truth of the scriptures, and prayerfully make up their own mind.

"I have been a Christian for a couple years now.. and I am still confused by all of the denominations."

In general you can't go far wrong in the Baptist Denomination, and while in it, you can read the Word and come to your OWN conclusions.

PERSONALLY I'm non-denominational. I'm a Member of, and a Leader in the Assemblies of God, but the AoG doesn't "define me". what it teaches, however is acceptable to me, and I can stand behind and defend most of it. SO if the Pentecostal Style of worship appeals to you, then The "Assemblies of God" is probably a good choice.

If you're looking for a PERFECT" denominational group, then you can stop doing that now - they're ALL flawed in one way or another

"I know that I need to study Christian history and find these answers myself."

All you'll find in "Christian History" is more of the same denominational confusion. but for a good reason -

Things started out in the Apostolic church, and you'll find in the Epistles an indication of how THOSE churches ran - but by 300 A.D. the church was now a "Religio/political" operation, and spiraling into deeper and deeper ERROR and spiritual ignorance and beauracracy under Catholic Management until about 1500, when finally Luther (And others) started to re-discover the truths that had been lost/forgotten - starting with "The Just will live by FAITH".

Over the last 500 years, different aspects of the truth have been restored.

It's my PERSONAL opinion that the Pentecostal Revival in 1900, and the subsequent Charismatic Outpouring in 1967 have been two of the most RECENT revivals in the church system, and in 2013 1 out of 2 Christians are "Pentecostal/Charismatic" world wide. the Church is a "Living" organism, and is still in the constant process of "Restoration". And it's not done yet.

In general if you're looking for a "Doctrinal approach" to Christianity, then the Baptist/Reformed approach will be a good fit, if you're looking for a more "Topical"/"Horizontal ministry" orientation, then the Methodists are pretty good. If you "groove" on Liturgy, then Methodists have some, and Lutherans have even more.

Since I was SAVED as the result of a Southern Baptist outreach, naturally I started the journey there, and found the "American Baptists" in Massachusetts to be VERY "Dry", and so jumped to the Assemblies of God, where I've been for most of the last 51 years.

There is only one real true church. It is spiritual and is composed of all those who walk by the Spirit and not by the flesh. There are many physical churches.
