  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why in many cases in marriage male age is greater than female?

Is there any special significance?

I suspect that women are often attracted to older men, perhaps for their greater maturity and financial security, and men are often attracted to younger women, for their youth and attractiveness.

Do you object to my theory? Of course, there could be additional reasons. Perhaps men don't feel the need to settle down until a little later in life as compared with women. I would count that as an additional reason.

Why do you (both DCC and the OP) think that women are ready to marry earlier than men are? I'm just curious.
I think that the best time is determined individually based on quite a lot of factors- there is no "one size fits all" time for such a major decision.
I don't, necessarily. However, because I'm 5 years younger than my husband, that's just where my mind tends to go.

The current averages are (I believe) 25 for women and 28 for men. Those numbers would not indicate that women are ready earlier. They would reflect the remaining popularity among women to marry men who are at least a little bit older than them.

Which is correct age for marriage male and female.

My opinion is Male at the age of 25, female 21.

Your thoughts.

It really depends on the emotional maturity of the individuals involved.

Some people are ready for marriage in their mid/late teens.

Other people have absolutely no business EVER getting married, let alone raising children. (We've all met people like that.)

There is no firm age for either sex.

If a woman married a man her own age, she'd probably get the distinct feeling she was babysitting. Men simply don't mature at the same rate, so marrying an older man levels the field a bit.

My partner is 38 going on 59.

I'm 52 going on 23.

My idea of fun is chasing severe thunderstorms and tornadoes, getting directly into the path of the eye of a hurricane, jumping out of planes from 13,500 feet, bungee jumping, driving 115 mph, and playing hideously difficult piano pieces in front of an audience.

His idea of fun is talking me out of getting directly into the path of the eye of a hurricane, or jumping out of planes from 13,500 feet or bungee jumping. ("Do you remember those six toes you had operated on two years ago? Do you really think jumping out of a plane from 13,500 feet is a good idea" (Yes, I do.) "Did you see what happened to all those buildings when the storm surge came through?" (Yes, and that's why I want to videotape the eyewall and the eye!) "Why would you go 115 when you'll get to the same place by going 60?" (Because you get there in half the time!))

I tell people I'm not going to die yet because Heaven just isn't ready for when Maude finally makes her great entrance! (When I die, I want to be cremated and have my remains shot into an F5 tornado!)

I think there are probably a lot of women out there who are very glad I'm not straight! :p
