Which grief is greatest?

I have read through some of the posts and have seen grief over various loved ones. I suffered grief when my 23 year old beautiful daughter left us suddenly and unexpectedly for Heaven in March. Many say losing a child is the greatest grief you can experience. And I have cried every day for my sweet girl. So I know how overwhelming it is.
But I don't minimize anyone else's grief whether it's a precious father, mother, brother, sister or stillborn baby. We also had our second baby stillborn 21 years ago and I've never forgotten her nor ever will.
We are all journeying through this grief together and know the grace of God will sustain us through it all.

I'm not sure that one is necessarily always greater than the other. It would depend on quite a few factors. I'm also not sure how you would measure a person's grief or the effect it has on a person. I had to be present with a lady who was told her dad had just died this last Saturday. It was terrible, but how in the world would you measure it?

There is no way to measure it...and I don't one should.
If so how should that scale look like and who should make the scale. Someone who hasn't lost anyone (yet) and don't know what it means to lose someone. Or someone who has lost a child, parent, brother or sister and are in the middle of greiving them?

I don't think we should compare losses. Loss is loss..it hurts to lose someone we love and cherish no matter who it is. All we can do it be there for each other, comfort, listen and pray.

There is no greater grief other than the grief one goes through themselves. And what is your greatest grief is not necessarily some else's. For me it has been the lost of dad. I don't have kids so I will never experience that grief, though I am sure it too would be very difficult. But there is one whose grief is greater than all of ours and that is the grief of our Heavenly Father. So when we think we can't handle things we need to remember what he gave up for us and draw strnght and comfort from Him. Because He knows first hand what it is like to lose someone you love. And we need to remember in the end, like the Father, we will get them back and be with them forever if the heart is right. Therefore let us be diligent in our relationship with Him and in witnessing the love of God....God Bless ALL....Rush

I believe what you say is right.
I lost my mother and father and God Helped me in both cicumstances.
