Xbox, IMO, is probably the best, but only in my opinion...now I figure I should give some reasons why, it doesn't help any just to put a vote out there...here's a few reasons...first when designers really try hard, xbox can push out the most power, get the best graphics, and do it all with out really gettting to stressed...CD ripping, just pop it in, burn it the hard drive and walla you can listen to the music in game (if the game allows) or you can use it as a make shift music player...dvd player, which i don't think really matters considering most people have DVD players, but if that's what ur looking for its also has ur DVD player (like the PS2, except on the downside, you have to buy a remote for the Xbox...again, it's a gaming machine, so DVD player is bonus), 3rdly sound, i think the xbox is capable of producing much better sound, it's been outfitted with some awesome hardware to produce quality in any sound setup, and TV setup also...built in hardrive also is a BIG bonus, no more memory cards, PS2 came out with a harddrive but it costs a lot and is only available if you buy Final Fantasy i believe...and i have well over 100 songs, 20 some games with numerous saves on each, and i still have over 50,000 blocks free...i think xbox also has the best online...with the harddrive, you can not only play people, keep track of scores on leader boards, but also download new content, patches, and other things quickly and easily...although PS2 allows dialup or phone line connection, these servers don't work well...lastly ill give you some examples of games that you may get into or genres you like
Action FPS: Okay i think xbox pretty much rules the market on first person shooters, its got halo, and halo 2, all the 007 games, tom clancys titles (splinter cell, rainbow 6, and ghost recon) and i think that how the triggers and controller are setup, the games are easy to play and figure out
Racing: Well, it seems there are more arcade style games such as Midnight Club, but it does have a few more realistic types, more simulation type games such as the Colin Mcae Rally Racing, or a couple others that i can't remember names for, but Forza Motorsports will be coming out soon, which will compete with Gran Turismo series..forza will allow engine swaps, real parts for each car, some of the most realistic graphics, with awesome damage modeling where paint scraps off exactly where it should get scrapped off, tons of other things, and then there Project Gotham, which kinda combines simulation with arcade for an interesting twist...
RPG: while it's hard to beat Final Fantasy, and Zelda, mostly because their their own style...xbox does have some true RPGs, whihc i find are almost all for the diehard fans, i mean what was that game oh yeah Azurik or smething for xbox was an RPG, but it was really action orinated, not Morrowind and Fable are great RPGs with huge worlds, each pretty lengthy and about as non-linear as non-linear can be...
Extreme Sports: You got ur Tony Hawks, but also i really like Amped, one of the best snowboarding and except for some of the tricks and stuff, come close to most realistic, it's kind of an interesting twist on the genre in that you actually climg throught the ranks and get sponsors, but there are also some other extreme sports games out there some more wacky than other, such as Jet Set Radio Future...
Sports: they all compare the same, you got Madden, you got ESPN, you got basketball, hockey, racing, yeah...no real winner...especially now that except for gamecube all the sports games that people like are online, including EA which didn't allow Xbox live in their sports titles, but now they do
Fighting: again they all compare, the japanese market pretty mcuh owns the figthing genre so you see a lot on PS2, and some on Gamecube, but that doesn't mean Xbox is out, it's just a matter of looking around...Soul Caliber (on all systems) Xbox has Dead or Alive, yea idk off ahnd, i don't look into those alot, i don't play many of them...
anyway, that's my "review" my input, of course it may not matter, but it gives more thne just "here's what i think you should get" and gives some reasons why...but in the end you just gotta look at the websites, look at reviews and find which system is best for you
