I have an Xbox so I voted for PS2. In fact, if I had it to do over, I'd probably get a PS2 instead simply because Microshaft killed True Fantasy Live Online and that was one of the main reasons I got an xbox. At least with PS2 I could play Everquest Online Adventures.

Now it looks like Xbox will never have an mmorpg so I guess I'll start saving for a PS2. lol

Xbox, IMO, is probably the best, but only in my opinion...now I figure I should give some reasons why, it doesn't help any just to put a vote out there...here's a few reasons...first when designers really try hard, xbox can push out the most power, get the best graphics, and do it all with out really gettting to stressed...CD ripping, just pop it in, burn it the hard drive and walla you can listen to the music in game (if the game allows) or you can use it as a make shift music player...dvd player, which i don't think really matters considering most people have DVD players, but if that's what ur looking for its also has ur DVD player (like the PS2, except on the downside, you have to buy a remote for the Xbox...again, it's a gaming machine, so DVD player is bonus), 3rdly sound, i think the xbox is capable of producing much better sound, it's been outfitted with some awesome hardware to produce quality in any sound setup, and TV setup also...built in hardrive also is a BIG bonus, no more memory cards, PS2 came out with a harddrive but it costs a lot and is only available if you buy Final Fantasy i believe...and i have well over 100 songs, 20 some games with numerous saves on each, and i still have over 50,000 blocks free...i think xbox also has the best online...with the harddrive, you can not only play people, keep track of scores on leader boards, but also download new content, patches, and other things quickly and easily...although PS2 allows dialup or phone line connection, these servers don't work well...lastly ill give you some examples of games that you may get into or genres you like

Action FPS: Okay i think xbox pretty much rules the market on first person shooters, its got halo, and halo 2, all the 007 games, tom clancys titles (splinter cell, rainbow 6, and ghost recon) and i think that how the triggers and controller are setup, the games are easy to play and figure out

Racing: Well, it seems there are more arcade style games such as Midnight Club, but it does have a few more realistic types, more simulation type games such as the Colin Mcae Rally Racing, or a couple others that i can't remember names for, but Forza Motorsports will be coming out soon, which will compete with Gran Turismo series..forza will allow engine swaps, real parts for each car, some of the most realistic graphics, with awesome damage modeling where paint scraps off exactly where it should get scrapped off, tons of other things, and then there Project Gotham, which kinda combines simulation with arcade for an interesting twist...

RPG: while it's hard to beat Final Fantasy, and Zelda, mostly because their their own style...xbox does have some true RPGs, whihc i find are almost all for the diehard fans, i mean what was that game oh yeah Azurik or smething for xbox was an RPG, but it was really action orinated, not Morrowind and Fable are great RPGs with huge worlds, each pretty lengthy and about as non-linear as non-linear can be...

Extreme Sports: You got ur Tony Hawks, but also i really like Amped, one of the best snowboarding and except for some of the tricks and stuff, come close to most realistic, it's kind of an interesting twist on the genre in that you actually climg throught the ranks and get sponsors, but there are also some other extreme sports games out there some more wacky than other, such as Jet Set Radio Future...

Sports: they all compare the same, you got Madden, you got ESPN, you got basketball, hockey, racing, yeah...no real winner...especially now that except for gamecube all the sports games that people like are online, including EA which didn't allow Xbox live in their sports titles, but now they do

Fighting: again they all compare, the japanese market pretty mcuh owns the figthing genre so you see a lot on PS2, and some on Gamecube, but that doesn't mean Xbox is out, it's just a matter of looking around...Soul Caliber (on all systems) Xbox has Dead or Alive, yea idk off ahnd, i don't look into those alot, i don't play many of them...

anyway, that's my "review" my input, of course it may not matter, but it gives more thne just "here's what i think you should get" and gives some reasons why...but in the end you just gotta look at the websites, look at reviews and find which system is best for you

"Now there are more things inside the XBox than you think that blast away PS2’s inner core.
• XBox has a CPU of 733 MHz
• PS2 only has 300 MHz.
A central processing unit (CPU) is a part of a computer that basically controls the rest of the unit.
• The Xbox graphics processor is a custom-designed X chip with 233 MHz
• PS2 has 150 MHz with its Sony GS.
The graphics processor is what makes the graphics look realistic
As you’ve seen so far, XBox is wasting PS2 in the technical stuff, but we’ve only just begun!

• The RAM on XBox is 64 MB
• PS2's is only 32 MB.
RAM is an acronym for random access memory, a type of computer memory that can be accessed randomly; that is, any byte of memory can be accessed without touching the preceding bytes. RAM is the most common type of memory found in computers and other devices, such as Printers.
• The polygon performance on XBox is 125 M/sec, and PS2’s is 66 M/sec.
Polygon performance is a low-level or operation from which higher-level, more complex objects and operations can be constructed. In, primitives are basic elements, such as lines, curves, and polygons, which you can combine to create more complex graphical images.
• Simultaneous Textures, XBox: 4. PS2: 1.
Simultaneous Textures-An all-digital technology for concurrent voice and data (SVD) transmission over a single analog telephone line.
• Storage medium, XBox: 2-5x DVD, 8 GB hard disk, and 8-MB memory card.
• PS2: 4x DVD, 8-MB memory card 1.5GB disc, and ½ MB memory card.
Storage medium is just how much memory the system has or can have due to memory cards, or in XBox’s case, the hard drive.
You probably are wondering why all the little technical features matter so much, the answer is: the more, the merrier. In other words, the more options you have, the better off you are going to be. Having all the memory and being able to compose the best graphical characters make XBox better than PS2. "

I got all that info from a web site somewhere awhile back when I had to do a speech. It truely shows that Xbox has twice as good of hardware than PS2. Its all fact too. I mod and work on Xbox's and I know my stuff when it comes to them. IMHO, Xbox is the best, and nothing less.

There's a reason why the PlayStation 2 outsold both Xbox and GameCube combined several times over - it simply blew the competition out of the water in practically all the other things besides system specs.

Face it - most people care more about the games on the system than how great the system is. Probably I'm saying this because I don't care much about graphics and all as long as the quality is passable and doesn't detract from the gameplay itself. Sony won this generation's console wars hands-down because of better console launch timing (was the first out), better marketing, better games, better support. In the end, the superior specs of the other two consoles didn't get them as far, did it?

Hmmmm... lets see...yes, Sony did get their product launched first. They put out a sloppy product as well. Why do you think they have just now put out the slimline ps2? Could it be what the ps2 should have been upon first release? I think so. By releasing first they did sell thousands more consoles.

Better marketing? Hmmmm...I can't really see much difference in their marketing scheme, nor any great signs from superior marketing.

Better games? Hmmmm...I think not. Even though I personally don't play halo I will not argue that it did beat any game sales record by far. Not to mention games such as the Rainbow Six series, Splinter Cell, Need for Speed series, and so many other games. Let me ask a question. How many games that come out for PS2 are also available on Xbox? Hmmm...that then goes to which console has the best graphics as to which console has the better overall abilities.

Better support? Hmmmm...The thing about Xbox is that it is so much like a computer anybody that knows about computers can fix them. Or if you Xbox stops working just send it back to MS and they will send you a new one.

End the end Xbox is better than all (besides pc) because of their superior specs.

Have a good day! :D

I don't think any one system has really better games when it's all based on personal preferences...i mean with these days, the gaming market and console wars is only based on a few games that are released special for each console...PS2s got Grand Theft Auto, well not totally, but basically it comes out special for it first, and it takes several years for the Xbox make to come out, if they ever do...Xbox has Halo 1 and 2 and of course I think Tom Clancy's titles come out first...gamecube has kid oriented games, such as Mario, and it's got Zelda, and of course Metroid Prime....so each game company has it's signed deals, and each one has companies that don't sign deals but still just make the games for one system...and then there are those, actually several of those, who make games that cross platform, many times all at once, and sometimes 1 system at a time...basically you kinda have to go guess and choose with what's available now...just check reviews and stuff, see whats available and then hurry and buy, ooooorrrrrr, what i would do, skip this year, and save up when the next consoles come out, give more time to save up, plus you won't buy this console only to have a few years of use...but at the same time going back to the previous thing with cross platform games, right there it does come down to performance, special features, and console specific games are also different, because they take characteristics of the each console and take them to extremes, so i still think that xbox would be the better pcik since, it does have better performance for both cross platform and console specific games..Tony Hawk will perform better, look better and sound better, then it's counterpart on another system...maybe to a small degree, but it does, and there are some games that blow every other counterpart out of the water on xbox...such as wreckless: the yakuza missions, it's on PS2 and Xbox, xbox release first, and its wonderfully beautifully...tons of cameras filters, sparkles, blurs and effects, all of which are included in the PS2 version but either more minimal or some just hardly there at all, and with the whole free roam mode, all they did was take away the timer, and walla free roam mode, people argue it takes specs to produce a free roam mode, nope, just the lack of a mission timer...
