I was baptized from birth but had no formal religious instruction. Because of illness I can only worship at home.

For the last year I've celebrated sabbath on a Sunday. Someone told me tonight it's a Saturday. Which is it? I want to follow God perfectly but am completely confused by this. The people in the chatroom were split between the two.

Does it say anywhere in the bible which was the 7th day? Does denomination count? (I'm Church of England)

The sabbath IS Saturday..
But scripture tells us that because of the New Covenet through Christ we don't have to keep "The holy Days" Sabbith, pentacost, rastashana, Passover, ect, ect.. we are "FREE" from such things.. The reason we worship on the first day of the week is: The tradition set up by the apostles "The actual followers of christ" it's in the book of ACTS if you want to read about it.

Ans. Whether you celebrated Sabbath on a Sunday or Saturday, as far as i know God, God is not going to take it as a major issue. If you really want to follow God perfectly, then celebrate your Sabbath (either on Sunday or Saturday) in truth and in spirit. Lord Jesus Christ, who was the Lord of Sabbath Himself was accused by the Jews of profaning the Sabbath when He healed a man with a withered hand on the Sabbath day. It is extremely important to Read and Meditate on Matthew 12:1-15 verses to understand God's thought about Sabbath.

Does it say anywhere in the bible which was the 7th day? Does denomination count? (I'm Church of England)
Ans. Yes, there are good number of verses in the Bible which say that the 7th day is the Sabbath day (Exodus 20:8-11, Leviticus 23:3). But, after the New Covenant had been given through Lord Jesus Christ we are no longer under the Old Covenant. Therefore, we ought to look into the what the New Testament says about Sabbath. Sadly, there are christians who give more important to the Old Testament than to the New Testament. A matured christian knows what verses of the Old Testament needs to be taken and how they have to be understood. All people are equally respected by God therefore the denomination to which you belong does not count. Your heart-connection (or your personal relationship) with Father-God Yahweh and Son-God Lord Jesus Christ the Messiah and your love for Him is what counts the most.

So, when you celebrate your Sabbath and what you do on the Sabbath day are entirely between you and God. Other christians cannot judge you in this matter.

You've been right, sister! From the beginning, Christians came together to worship on Sunday, the first day of the week (see e.g. Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 16:2), because that was the day that Jesus rose (and we've just kept counting 7s from then).

More than 99% of Christians worship on Sunday, including the Church of England, or the Anglican Church as it now calls itself.

A small minority, including "Seventh-day Adventists" worship on Saturday (as Jews do).

Have you seen these churches with worship online: http://www.hotworship.com/? All in the wrong timezone, though.

There are also several online Bible studies, including here on CF.

And if you get really bored, take a look at my Church History Project.
