Which Bible Translation Do You Use?

I like the (N)KJV. Hoenstly I've had issues with certain versions because slight changes in the wording of certain texts can change the entire meaning of the verse. This isn't rampant throughout those versions, but just very subtle and in such a way that one may not realize it.

Again though, I'd say pray on it and use what works for you but keep a KJV close

Seems kinda disingenuous to compliment someone you don't even know... must be trying to win him over to Team Crib.

I use The Spanish Valera, the old and the modern KJV, the NIV.

My original bible is Valera, but it's very similar to KJV because they are both from the same original Latin translation, The Vulgata.

Besides, I would like to go to a church where everyone reads from the same bible. This is crazy now, you can't memorize bible text and expect people to become familiar with them, because they sound different in every bible. It's even hard to follow the reading with so many different translations.

It's easier to follow from one language to another than from two different translations within the same language.

May I suggest a second look be given the underlying text from which the KJV was translated. This site may be useful: BIBLE VERSIONS ... Textus Receptus.

I whole heartedly agree with you on the multiple problems with multiple translations in public and for memorization. Memorization has really taken a dive. The congregation I was attending provided NKJV in the pews with the hymnals. Now that I am in the Simple Church Network we also provide and generally use the NKJV. Having a common version available for public use helps. I was raised on KJV for the first half of my life so it is only relatively recently that I have dealt with the availability and use of the sea of translations.

I agree with that. I make a couple of observations. Given the goals of the major players of the Great Controversy (God and Satan) it is to us to evaluate our "primary sources." Going to "easy reading" may side track us.

Every profession has its vocabulary be it that of the neurologist, or professional homemaker. I am willing to learn some archaic English if it provides the better resource toward salvation.

When addressing a person for the first time, being friendly rather than barking like a pit bull may let them know you love God and strangers which are God's true commandments.
Being SDA does not mean the rest of the world wants you dead or are your enemy.
Try to understand that SDA is not the only church that believes that they are Christians.


Team Crib is a group of people who are dont have to suck up to others and act as if they understand everything about the word of God.
Team Crib is a group of people who can agree to disagree and still remain respectful.
Team Crib is a group of people who answer questions and expect to get answers in return.

I agree with this. The language of the KJV was never the language of the street. It was deliberately written in the style it used to give majesty to the words of God. I do know of some KJV editions that include word meanings in footnotes or as a separate appendix for any that need it.

Incidentally, this does not mean I am changing my position on the KJV versus modern translations, just pointing something out...

31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you(plural), that he may sift you(plural) as wheat:
32 But I have prayed for thee(singular), that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

Here the Lord tells Peter Satan desire to have all of you (the disciples) and to find faults in them, but the Lord has prayed specifically for thee (Peter). KJV preserved the aspect of the personal relationship with Jesus for the readers. The modern translations lost all of that.

And because KJV does not use the language of the street, studies have shown KJV is the easiest to memorize.

KJV , hands down, most trusted. Watch out for those Copyrited Bibles, and be careful of these Uber new Bibles that turn Gods word into ebonics!

Hi everyone.

The King James is the most accurate translation of God's Word. If you, like myself, cannot read Hebrew or Greek, there is no other Bible worthy of our study. The original Authorized "King James" Bible is the fruit of the Reformation and men of faith like John Wycliffe and William Tyndale died in order to bring the plain truth back to the people.

I would highly recommend researching the many MANY differences between the King James Bible vs our "modern" translations. Prayerfully ask God to open your eyes to the truth. Here is a great site to begin:

There is also an excellent documentary entitled "A Lamp In The Dark" that deals with this issue, which I believe does a superb job in presenting the truths on this issue.
