  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I think he wants us to have the knowledge of the truth and believe it. From my understanding, the knowledge of good and evil is having the knowledge that things are either good or bad. On the sixth day of creation, I read that all God created was very good. Weren't Adam and Eve created naked? And didn't the serpent want them to realize that they were naked, which later on caused them to feel shameful of themselves (even though they felt shameful of the way God made them)?
I think that your logic here is on a track consistent with what God was trying to convey. Our bodies were not made wrong -- but we are self-conscious about showing them, and recognize that showing too much can lead others to distraction.

And He wasn't trying to keep knowledge from us -- just trying to keep their innocence, I suppose. Guilt and fear of potential actions often lead us into doing what we are afraid of. Oddly, fear sometimes opens the door.

You had mentioned that God manifested himself to Adam and Eve and talked to them. According to the Bible, this would also be true for Lot.
And others! Moses, Jacob, Jesus, John, ...the Bible is full of visual, audio, visionary, prophetic, and dream manifestations of God. The remarkable experiences were a big reason for people passing these stories down through generations.

Everytime someone asks me if I believe in Christ, I can't give them a sure answer back. I can't prove if I believe in him or not. Is there a reason why I'm being kept in this state of unbelief, that is caused by the emptiness inside of me? I hear Christians say come to Christ... but my question is: Where's he at?

sin keeps us separated from God. seek to get away from sins first. Jesus helps us do this, but we need to also take steps in our life to help this be accomplished in our life. That includes being open to lifestyle changes that may be uncomfortable and unpopular. If there is any one thing you are doing you know is wrong, seek to change it, and go from there, the little things will add up. Start heading for doing what is right, and He will help you more and more.

for me, it started with stopping illegal drugs, then paying attention to my child (and not my selfishness) and being respectful to parents, then returning things I had stolen (I used to steal a lot), and then watching bad tv shows, and etc. God did answer these prayers to help get away from bad things slowly but surely, now I feel very close to Him. New Testament daily reading also helps teach us prayerfully.
